iBuyPower LAN Warrior II Packs Core i7, Dual Video Cards

Some gamers absolutely have to dominate LAN-based multiplayer games, and boutique computer maker iBuyPower is willing to help with that: the company has just announced its LAN Warrior II gaming rig, featuring an Intel Core i7 processor, room for two full length graphics cards, and support for up to 24 GB of RAM. Players who can’t dominate a LAN party with one of these…well, might actually have to spend time learning to play the games. Plus the LAN Warrior II comes in a new NZXT Vulcan case, which is more compact than a typical gaming rig and features a non-slip top handle for easy portability.

“LAN party gamers demand more power than a notebook can deliver but disconnecting and shipping a full tower desktop to an event is a difficult and clumsy endeavor,” said iBuyPower VP Darren Su, in a statement. “The LAN Warrior II provides gamers with a more portable solution and is ready to take on any full sized system.”

The LAN Warrior II supports all socket 1366 CPUS (including the ultra speedy six-core Intel Core i7-980x), has two internal 3.5-inch drive pages, space for up to two ATI Radeon HD 5970 or Nvidia GTX 480 graphics cards running in CrossFire or SLI mode, support for up to 24 GB of memory, two external 5.25-inch drive bays for optical drives, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA port, and an optional 12-in-1 media card reader. The unit can pack up to a 1200 watt power supply…and fortunately the LAN Warrior II also comes with a heap of cooling options: on top of two 120mm fans (front and top) gamers can get an additional 120mm top fan, a 200mm side fan, and another 92mm in back.

Pricing on the LAN Warrior II starts at $999. Of course, fully tricked out, systems like this can easily eclipse $8,000.
