E3 2012: Dead Space 3 to have co-op multiplayer

dead space 3 screenshotDuring Electronic Art’s E3 2012 press conference, the gaming giant teased Dead Space 3 co-op with a Visceral Games rep on stage presenting a live demo. In the demo, stalwart hero Isaac and a new character named Carver fight to turn on a huge drill while battling a horde of monsters.

The demo featured some standard cooperative, cover-based action, which isn’t strictly a Dead Space staple. Isaac and Carver fight a giant monster on the edge of a cliff, until the monster breaks it sending both players into darkness.

According to EA and Visceral, the third in the Dead Space series will feature drop-in and drop-out co-op, and more multiplayer options. Dead Space 3 will also be the first non-space entry in the series, with the game taking place on a snow planet that has spider-looking monsters. We’ve seen a ton of comparisons to Lost Planet.

Steam launches new trial service featuring a free 90-minute Dead Space demo
Isaac Clarke aims at a necromorph in Dead Space.

Steam is rolling out a new feature that allows developers and publishers to offer limited-time free trials for their games. The first title to have one is EA Motive's Dead Space remake.

Motive released its remake of Dead Space in January to critical acclaim. Now, almost four months after launch, EA announced it is running a 20% off sale for Dead Space on Steam and is offering a free trial through May 29. Over the next two weeks, anyone with a Steam account can try out Dead Space for an hour and a half for free. Players do have to download the full game before starting the free trial and can then choose to purchase the full game once their 90 minutes are up.

Does Honkai: Star Rail have co-op?
Two anime characters with glowing hearts.

Coming from the same team that brought us Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail shares a lot in common with that mega-hit. The most noticeable is the art style and gacha mechanics, but what about the ability to play co-op? After you've added friends to your friends list, will this game let you actually jump in to help your friends out and explore the world together? Let's see how you can, and can't, help your friends out in Honkai: Star Rail.
Is there co-op in Honkai: Star Rail?

The sad reality is, unlike Genshin, there's no direct co-op mechanic in Honkai: Star Rail to allow you and any number of friends to join up together. That begs the question, though, as to what the point of having a friends list even is. Well, while you can't directly help, or be helped, by a friend, there is a way you can assist one another.
How to use a friend's Support Characters
Any person you add to your friend list will be selectable to summon in one of their Support Characters to join your party. There are a few restrictions to this system, though. For one, that Support Character will only stick with you for a set period of time, and they can only be used in Calyxes and Caverns of Corrosion. Additionally, any Support Character you take will have their level scaled to your level, meaning you can't borrow an overpowered unit to carry you through any encounters.
