There’s a new entertainment company in town which is looking to capitalize on the growing number of venues by which people seek their programming. Network Live, co-founded by “Live 8†executive producer Kevin Wall, is drawing upon the expertise and distribution platforms of sports and entertainment giant AEG, online portal America Online and satellite radio provider XM Radio to create a new world of multi-platform live entertainment programming.
Network Live, of which Wall has been named the CEO, forms on the success of the “Live 8†broadcasts by AOL and XM. It will produce, according to a press release, a slate of programming focused on music and comedy performances. Many of these performances will originate from AEG-owned venues, such as the STAPLES Center. The programs will be promoted to AOL’s web audience and XM’s satellite radio subscribers. Other possible media delivery platforms may include VOD, wireless and HDTV.
The company will also use the resources of AEG’s live entertainment division to add to AOL and XM’s own original program franchises such as AOL Music Sessions and XM’s Artist Confidential.
Wall brings a great deal of entertainment related experience to Network Live. Besides “Live 8â€, he has also produced and/or distributed over 400 other live events. These include performances by Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and the Three Tenors.
“This is a network of the future, delivering digital programming to consumers who are hungry for live programming,” said Kevin Wall, Co-Founder and CEO of Network Live. “We’re thrilled to enter this market with the unique opportunity to immediately tap into AOL’s vast audience, AEG’s relationships with the most popular performers in the music industry, and XM’s growing subscriber base. This will enable us to quickly establish the brand as the place where people can access and interact with live entertainment over digital platforms, guaranteeing the same excitement, energy and immediacy traditionally found when experiencing the event in person.”
