Crucial Introduces new System Scanner Tool

With the number of different memory standards, it’s sometimes difficult to figure out exactly what memory is needed for an upgrade, especially with older systems, custom built computers, or generic PCs. To help consumers make informed purchases, Crucial has released their new Crucial System Scanner Tool.

The System Scanner is a program that scans your hardware and gives you a details analysis that includes compatible memory upgrades, how many memory slots you have open, and how much total memory your system can support. In addition, it will analyze your graphics hardware, and let you know what you can run, and give you a list of compatible Crucial Radeon cards.

The Crucial System Scanner tool is currently PC only, and is available for download from the Crucial web site.

These days, it seems like everyone and their dog is working artificial intelligence (AI) into their tech products, from ChatGPT in your web browser to click-and-drag image editing. The latest example is Adobe Photoshop, but this isn’t just another cookie-cutter quick fix -- no, it could have a profound effect on imagery and image creators.

Photoshop’s newest feature is called Generative Fill, and it lets you use text prompts to automatically adjust areas of an image you are working on. This might let you add new features, adjust existing elements, or remove unwanted sections of the picture by typing your request into the app.

OpenAI’s new Shap-E tool is Dall-E for 3D objects

OpenAI's latest endeavor, Shap-E, is a model that allows you to generate 3D objects from text, not unlike how Dall-E can create 2D images.

According to OpenAI, Shap-E is "a conditional generative model for 3D assets. Unlike recent work on 3D generative models which produce a single output representation, Shap-E directly generates the parameters of implicit functions that can be rendered as both textured meshes and neural radiance fields."

Nvidia is introducing its new NeMo Guardrails tool for AI developers, and it promises to make AI chatbots like ChatGPT just a little less insane. The open-source software is available to developers now, and it focuses on three areas to make AI chatbots more useful and less unsettling.

The tool sits between the user and the Large Language Model (LLM) they're interacting with. It's a safety for chatbots, intercepting responses before they ever reach the language model to either stop the model from responding or to give it specific instructions about how to respond.
