Microsoft celebrates the November 22, 2013 launch of the Xbox One with a streaming launch event that will be viewable on Xbox.com (duh) and Spike TV. The headline event is set to happen at New York City’s Best Buy Theater with a live performance by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The first 1,000 fans to line up outside the theater and buy an Xbox One console or game will score access to the show, though anyone with an active high-speed Internet connection or basic cable will be able to watch it all live, remotely.

For those that live in the past on the West Coast, Microsoft has a separate launch event – also to be streamed/televised – at Milk Studios, with a performance from deadmau5. Both events will be treated like parties, with gameplay stations offering attendees the chance to try out an assortment of launch titles, including Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, and more.

Note that all attendees at both the NYC and LA events must be 18 or older. Fans will be able to line up and pre-purchase tickets starting at 8am and 10am, respectively. You can find more info on the event right here in Microsoft’s announcement.

“Today we invite millions of Xbox fans around the world to join us for the launch of Xbox One, beginning on Nov. 21 as we count down the final hours to the launch of Xbox One,” Microsoft VP of Marketing and Strategy Yusuf Mehdi said in a prepared statement. “Xbox One will be the biggest launch in the history of Xbox and we can’t wait to celebrate with our fans.”

Phantom Blade Zero hands-on: An extraordinary game with unbelievable combat that I can’t get enough of
Every fight feels like a beautifully choreographed martial arts movie, except I'm the one controlling every move.
Phantom Blade Zero poster

We have had a considerable number of high-profile game releases this year, but none so far have had as much hype behind them as Phantom Blade Zero. The source of all that hype was a 2023 trailer highlighting its fluid kung-fu-derived sword combat. Considering that, at the time of writing this piece, there are over 700,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, on a weekday no less, I think it's safe to say that the hype has converted into gamers actually showing up for the game. I have sunk around 10 hours into this game today, and so far, it has been nothing short of an absolute masterclass in action combat.

Two friends have used Claude to help bring the open-source PS2 emulator PCSX2 to a browser. Their project, TabStationToo, has been tested with games including GTA San Andreas and Final Fantasy XII.

The developers say Claude did most of the programming while they directed the work and tested the results. It’s still experimental, but games run locally without installing a desktop emulator.
