Game publisher Atari has announced that Neverwinter Nights 2 has shipped to U.S. retailers. The game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, takes role-players back to the embattled city of Neverwinter, set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, and offers extensive new single-player play with deep character development and powerful new features to let players create their own universes, quests, and stories.
“Obsidian has delivered an outstanding sequel to one of the most beloved RPGs of all time,” said Nique Fajors, Atari’s VP of sales and marketing. “Neverwinter Nights 2 offers a deeply satisfying role-playing experience and a robust toolset that together will extend the life of the Neverwinter tales and bring more members to the community.”
The first Neverwinter Nights game boasts a large fan community, having sold more than two million copies worldwide, with translations into ten languages.
Neverwinter Nights 2 is available for Windows and rated T for “Teen” by the ESRB. The standard edition is priced at $49.95, while a limited edition is priced at $59.95 and includes a cloth map of in-game locations, exclusive in-game content, a new “Blessed of Waukeen” feat, a unique weapon, and other extras.
