Lenovo Spins Out the X60 Tablet PC

Add as a preferred source on Google

Lenovo has introduced its new X60 Tablet PC, offering a low-voltage Core Duo processor (which contributes to the system’s ability to squeak out up to nine hour of battery life), Wi-Fi and MIMO wireless networking, and a new ActiveRotate feature which automatically orients the X60’s display to the user no matter how the tablet is being held. Lenovo has also added two new screen options to the X60 Tablet: a 12-inch MultiView/MultiTouch indoor/outdoor antiglare display and a 12.1-inch SXGA+ screen offering 1,400 by 1,050 resolution.

"The Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC marries the best aspects of notebooks and pen-based devices," said Peter Hortensius, senior VP of Lenovo’s Notebook Business Unit. "With new screen options, hardware capabilities and an improved sensory experience interacting with the tablet, the new Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet is packed with the innovation our customers want."

The X60 also offers more memory and storage capacity than its predecessors (supporting up to 4 GB RAM and a 120 GB hard drive), plus Bluetooth and 802.11a/b/g/pre-n Wi-Fi wireless networking along with embedded WWAN broadband wireless options. Lenovo has also revved its input pen with an enhanced feel and an eraser on top – and the tablet still measures just 1.1 inches thick and weighs just 3.8 pounds.

The Lenovo X60 tablet will be available in early December at prices starting at $1,799 (pre-orders on some models are available now). The X60 is not the cheapest Core Duo offering on the planet, but a product that’s sure to appeal to tablet PC users.

Now, Microsoft is formally asking Apple to provide interoperable clipboard access through the company’s European Union interoperability process. The request, submitted on March 25, argues that iOS restrictions prevent third-party platforms from creating an experience comparable to Apple’s Universal Clipboard. Apple has now reached Phase III and committed to developing a solution.

Google is preparing to add extension review links directly inside Chrome, putting feedback closer to the menus people already use to manage their add-ons.

A Chromium change, first spotted by Windows Report, points to review options in the Extensions menu, the chrome://extensions management page, and extension context menus. Only eligible Chrome Web Store extensions in good standing would qualify, and the feature is still under development.

Passkeys have been pushed as the safer successor to passwords. It promised protection from phishing, credential reuse, and password leaks. Google even claims that it cannot be copied or accidentally handed to someone else. But it might not be as secure as the company wants it to be.

Security researchers (Via BleepingComputer) have now found three ways malware can undermine those promises for passkeys synced through Google Password Manager. The techniques, collectively named Pass-ta-key, target Google Password Manager inside Chrome on Windows computers equipped with a Trusted Platform Module. Every attack requires malware to already be running on the victim’s computer.
