Valve said from the start that its living-room-focused Steam Machines would be coming from third-party manufacturers, and Engadget has a rundown of 14companies that will be offering the new hardware. We may well hear more later on today, as Valve has a showcase event connected to CES 2014 where attendees will get a first glimpse at what’s to come.
So far, we know that all of the following companies are on board: Alienware, Alternate, CyberPower PC, Falcon Northwest, Gigabyte, Maingear, Material.net, Next, Origin, Scan Computers, Webhallen, and Zotac, plus the previously confirmed Digital Storm and iBuyPower.
Valve’s event tonight ought to bring finer details, like actual hardware specs. The list of manufacturers may well grow, but this dozen appears to be confirmed.
