Today Click4Carbon moves out of beta, letting everyone use the UK-based search engine and also lower their carbon footprint.

The for-profit company is actually a portal to Google, meaning the world’s favorite search engine provides the results, and the ad revenue is shared with Click4Carbon, which uses them to fund reforestation projects through the Plant-A-Tree-Today Foundation.

Put together by John and Claire Russell, Click4Carbon promises to be carbon neutral and to become a community, offering a carbon calculator and advice on lowering carbon emissions.

In a statement on the site, the Russells said:

“With Click4Carbon we are not trying to re-invent the wheel. Google is by far the best search engine in the world and all that we want to do is provide users with that same experience albeit from a different web address and goal in mind. We also recognize that there is growing demand for information about the environment and how people can alter their lifestyles to support it. We want to make Click4Carbon an environmental hub and destination for the environmentally conscious.”
