Lenovo Rolls Out S10 Netbook for Education

Lenovo Rolls Out S10 Netbook for Education

Lenovo has announced a new IdeaPad S10e netbook, a version of its recently-introduced small and light notebook computer, but this time aimed specifically at the K-12 and higher education markets. Like other netbooks—such as the ever-populating Asus Eee line, Dell’s Mini 9 and 12, and even systems like the Intel Classmate and OLPC XO, Lenovo is positioning the S10 as an ideal system for connecting to the Internet to conduct online research, communicate with teachers and other students, light word processing and multimedia, sharing files and course materials…and, of course, engaging in social networking activities and email.

“Following the popularity of our recently introduced consumer netbooks, we are expanding our IdeaPad netbook line with models customized to the unique needs of students, teachers and education customers,” said Lenovo senior VP Scott DiValerio, in a statement.

The S10 e features a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 512 MB of RAM, and a 10.2-inch 1,024 by 600-pixel LCD display. The systems feature integrated WiFi and Ethernet networking, an ExpressCard 34 slot, optional Bluetooth, an integrated Web cam, and up to 160 GB of storage—although a tiny 4 GB SSD drive is also an option. Lenovo will offer the S10e with either Windows XP or SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop.

The IdeaPad S10e should be available by the end of November through Lenovo’s education sales and channel partners.

Lenovo is updating it's popular IdeaPad Duet 3, which sits among the best Chromebooks on the market, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This time around, the Duet 3i is coming with Windows 11 instead of ChromeOS, along with some updates to the case and components.

The IdeaPad Duet 3i is a lightweight, productivity-focused laptop featuring the Intel Processor N200 with Intel's integrated graphics, 4GB and 8GB memory options, and 128GB and 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD storage options. It runs the Windows 11 operating system. The touchscreen laptop is 10.68 x 6.77 x 0.35 inches overall; however, it is detachable from its keyboard, making it versatile as a smaller and more portable tablet. Software-wise, the device adapts quickly from laptop to tablet to pen mode to help not impede workflow. You can also purchase a Lenovo Digital Pen for writing purposes.
