It seems June is the month of Marantz. The company has waged an all-out assault on the home theater industry this month, showcasing a stream of shiny new pieces of high-resolution audio awesomeness. Today the company continues its campaign, unveiling its new SR5009 Network A/V receiver, which boasts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connection, high-res audio streaming, 4K video capabilities, and more.

Beyond its porthole LCD display, the SR5009 packs a potent punch of features. That includes a fully-loaded digital media player, able to handle virtually any audio file your PC or storage drive can throw at it over its Wi-Fi connection, including MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, and WAV up to 192kHz/24bit resolution, as well as DSD and AIFF files. On board Internet radio and Spotify Connect is also available, as well as a host of other apps via your mobile device over Airplay or Bluetooth.

As for power, the SR5009 boasts a 7-channel amplifier with a claimed 180 watts of power per channel, and advanced features like the latest version of its Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module (HDAM), designed to provide quick bursts of power with a low noise floor. The output can also be broken into dual zones, for 5.1 sound in one room, and independent stereo sound in another. Audio decoding for movies includes Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio, along with the other usual suspects.

Connection options include two HDMI outputs, and eight inputs, with seven at the back of the unit and one in the front, alongside a USB port. All of its HDMI inputs are 2.0-compliant, with the latest video technology for top scale 4K video resolution at 60Hz, and 3D passthrough. The receiver will also upscale 1080p to 4K.

Other options include setup assistant with Audyssey MultEQ XT room calibration, four smart select buttons that easily select listening presets, remote control via Marantz’s app for iOS and Android devices, and a 7.2 channel pre-amp output for integration with a dedicated amplifier.

At $900, the SR5009 is an investment, but it matches up well with other competitors in the field, and brings a wide load of options for the money to to make it a tantalizing choice as the hub of your home theater. Units are expected to ship in August, and will be available at select Marantz dealers.

Disney+ app on the iPad Air 5.

There is currently no Disney Plus free trial. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. In fact, there hasn't been a Disney Plus free trial for many years. But all is not lost. While you can't get Disney Plus for free, there are quite a few very cheap options. We list all of the tiers and options below: Everything from the $8 ad-supported tier to the $25 Disney Bundle Trio, which includes ad-free Disney Plus, ad-free Hulu and ESPN+. Occasionally Disney has a deal that gets you three months for $6 total, but that's not available right now. We'll keep you updated if it ever comes back.

The best and most reliable way to save is through the Disney Bundle, which sees ESPN Plus and Hulu thrown in for just $15 a month. On their own, Disney Plus is normally $8 per month, Hulu is $8, and ESPN is $10, so this is a great deal.  If it sounds good to you, you should start your subscription now. The price of the Disney Bundle increased to $15 on October 12, 2023.
