Beyerdynamic has launched the Aventho Y, a new pair of wireless over-ear headphones with a 90-hour battery, fast charging, support for switching between two devices at once, and a battery and ear pads you can actually replace yourself. The headphones were unveiled ahead of IFA Berlin and go on sale on September 3 in four color options.

Battery, Bluetooth, and ANC that actually hold up

The Aventho Y uses Multipoint Bluetooth 6.0, so you can hop between your laptop and phone without issues. Battery life goes up to 90 hours with ANC turned off, and if you’re in a rush, five minutes on the charger buys you another six hours of playback.

Beyerdynamic is also paying a lot of attention to user comfort. The ear pads and headband offer ample cushion, making them perfect for long listening sessions. Beyerdynamic is also releasing an upgrade kit with a matching USB-C dongle and a color-coordinated boom mic, turning the Aventho Y into a full headset setup.

On the audio side, a 45mm dynamic driver handles the heavy lifting, aiming to capture the finer details in your music. The over-ear design blocks outside noise on its own, and switching on ANC cuts down distractions even further.

Parts you can actually replace

Another big selling point for Aventho Y headphones is that they are made to last. Beyerdynamic built the headphones with long-term wear in mind, so a worn-out part doesn’t mean you need to replace the whole headset. You can individually swap out the pieces that see the most use, including the battery, magnetic ear pads, aluminum sliders, and stainless steel hinges.

Where can you try them first?

Beyerdynamic is showing off the Aventho Y today at the ShowStoppers media event before IFA kicks off, with a public demo at the Hama booth once the show opens on September 4. There’s also a dance event on September 6 at Flying Steps’ Backyard Battles, where attendees can test the headphones and enter a raffle to win a pair.

Audio-Technica is calling these $3,800 wooden headphones its finest ever
The hand-finished ATH-AWX7000 uses Kiso cypress, Echizen lacquer, and a new composite diaphragm.
Audio Technica ATH-AWX7000 wooden headphones launched

Audio-Technica, a brand well known for making some of the best studio and professional headphones on the market, has just come out with the ATH-AWX7000, which the company itself claims to be its "finest headphones ever." The new flagship closed-back headphone has debuted at an eye-watering price of $3,799. It combines hand-finished Japanese woodwork with a newly developed 58mm driver.

The earcups are made from Kiso cypress, a prized wood historically used for Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Each housing is finished by hand with traditional Echizen lacquer, which brings out the grain and is expected to darken over time. The frame and sliders are finished in a deep navy kachi-iro shade traditionally associated with samurai.
