The Walking Dead finale is now 90 minutes long, and it’s going to be epic

Fans of The Walking Dead, brace yourselves – the season 5 finale will be extended by an extra half hour to fill your screens with a full 90 minutes of zombie action.

Set to air at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. Central) on Sunday, March 29, the finale of the popular AMC show’s 5th season is sure to be an eventful cap to another scintillating batch of barbary, survival, and undead drama.

Who will have survived up to that point? Who will be taken out in the episode? (Let’s face it – there’s no way the show will run for a full 90 minutes without at least one major character meeting his or her maker.) Will the crew ever actually meet up with Morgan? And seriously, what’s up with Aaron?

There are so many questions still unanswered, but rest assured, one month from now, we’ll get all those answers — at least enough to satiate until season 6. And chances are we’ll be left with just as many questions left in the air as usual by the end. If the show’s history is any indication, that’ll come accompanied by a wide-eyed, WTF look in our eyes.

If the comics are any indication (spoiler alert), Glenn may be next to get taken out at the hands of a tool integral to the sport of baseball, not a walker/roamer/biter. If that does happen, it could take place long before the finale – there are still 4 more episodes to go until then. But, as avid fans know, sometimes the showrunners follow the comic book series very closely, and sometimes they deviate greatly from what you might expect. (After all, Daryl doesn’t even exist in the comics.)

As per usual, follow-up talk show Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick, will follow the finale’s broadcast, starting at 10:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. Central time.)

For nearly 12 years, The Walking Dead has been AMC's flagship series. However, the final season is raising questions about whether humanity can survive past the events of the zombie apocalypse. In the first trailer for The Walking Dead season 11, part 2, Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon makes an impassioned plea to his fellow survivors. Daryl is questioning the need to kill each other in a world already poisoned by death. But a new war among the survivors appears to be inevitable.

Warning, spoilers ahead! AMC is releasing The Walking Dead season 11 in eight-episode installments, in a bid to keep the show around as long as possible. During the first part of the season, Eugene's group made their way to the Commonwealth, a supercolony that resembles life before zombies overran civilization. Unfortunately, the Commonwealth has a darker side that gets explored in the trailer. The Commonwealth provides a good life for anyone in a position of power. But anyone who causes too many waves will be cast out.

Ratings for The Walking Dead aren't what they used to be, but that isn't stopping AMC from launching a third series set in the world of the hit zombie survival drama.

The still-untitled series will follow two female protagonists as they attempt to live in a world filled with threats -- both human and zombie -- around every corner, and will unfold in the same universe as the network's two existing series, The Walking Dead and and Fear the Walking Dead. AMC released a set of six photos from the series ahead of its panel event at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, October 5.
