Seth Rogen crashes a church service on Christmas Eve in The Night Before trailer

Church and drugs don’t typically mix well, as we see in the new trailer for The Night Before, starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie. The trio play a group of childhood friends who’ve outgrown an annual Christmas Eve wilding they had previously made into a tradition, but want to go out with a bang. Thanks to Rogen’s wife, played by Jillian Bell, their night out takes some wild turns after she gifts her husband with a box of cocaine and some magic mushrooms.

The “ride or die homies” started their tradition after Ethan (Gordon-Levitt) lost his mom, but now Chris (Mackie) is too famous and Isaac (Rogen) is about to have a baby, so they’ve resolved to leave their unconventional (read: insane) Christmas celebrations behind. From drinking in a graveyard to trying to fit in as many traditions as possible, it’s Christmas Eve like you’ve never seen it — and maybe that’s a good thing. Between the three of them, they manage to share a stage with Miley Cyrus, get involved in a car wreck (while in a Red Bull limo, naturally), and even get punched by Santa.

The trailer culminates with Rogen’s character, accompanied by his wife, at a church service clad in a Star of David sweater and wondering if anyone can tell he’s Jewish. Unfortunately for him — not to mention for everyone at the church, too — the mushrooms and cocaine don’t react so well. Much to his wife’s embarrassment, he ends up vomiting in the aisle before running out shouting, “We did not kill Jesus!”

Based on the trailer, The Night Before looks like fine holiday fun. It’s produced by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, otherwise known as “the guys who brought you This is the End, Neighbors, and almost The Interview.”

The Night Before hits theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

The best movies on Amazon Prime Video (May 2024)
Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway in The Idea of You.

Amazon Prime Video is starting off strong in May with several new additions to its library of movies, including the premiere of the original romantic drama The Idea of You. Last year's underrated Christmas drama The Holdovers is also now streaming on Prime Video. And as far as we're concerned, a good drama is never out of season.

Prime Video lost a handful of movies at the end of April, and Paul Thomas Anderson's Licorice Pizza is only sticking around through the end of the weekend. But everything else on our list of the best movies on Amazon Prime Video right now is still available. Just keep reading, and you can make plans to watch any of the films that you want to see this month.

The 50 best movies on Netflix right now (May 2024)
Jenna Ortega in Miller's Girl.

It should come as no surprise that this year's hit rom-com Anyone But You has a stranglehold on the top slot of the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. But it is somewhat surprising to see Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver completely disappear from the list. That's going to make Rebel Moon – Part Three very unlikely to happen, and it may even discourage Netflix from committing extremely high budgets to its original sci-fi movies.

More tellingly, two of this week's new additions are modestly budget dramas: Miller's Girl and The Judge. The former features Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, while the latter has great lead performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. So it's not a mystery as to why both of those films are two of the top performers of the week.

MCU’s Fantastic Four: release date, trailer, cast, plot
The cast of "The Fantastic Four."

It's not a coincidence that one of the first Marvel movies announced after Disney purchased 20th Century Fox's entertainment assets in 2019 was a new reboot of The Fantastic Four. In 1961, Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby launched the Marvel Universe as we know it with Fantastic Four #1, and it was the comic that set the tone for everything that came after.

Because the rights to the Fantastic Four were tied up at Fox for the better part of two decades, FF supporting players like Silver Surfer were withheld from the MCU. Now that the characters are firmly under Marvel Studios' control, the sky's the limit for the upcoming reboot. And we're here to share everything we know about The Fantastic Four so far.
Who has been cast in The Fantastic Four?
