Marvel revealed back in May that Martin Freeman would appear in Captain America: Civil War, but the studio held out on what role the Sherlock star would play. At long last, however, fans are getting their answer: Freeman will play Everett Ross, a U.S. government employee, reports Empire.

The role positions Freeman to cross over into future Marvel films beyond Captain America: Civil War. Ross has frequently played into the Black Panther comics, so with Marvel developing a standalone film centering on the popular superhero, we expect to see more of Ross’ character in the MCU as well. Most immediately, though, Ross will be part of the Joint Counter Terrorist Center that appears in Civil War.

Empire tweeted an exclusive photo showing Ross with Sharon Carter (played by Emily VanCamp) in what appears to be a tense situation, given the number of German SWAT team members standing behind them.

In the comics, Ross works for the U.S. State Department and escorts foreign diplomats while they’re on American soil. He ends up being assigned to the Black Panther, the ruler of the fictional African nation of Wakanda. Because the Black Panther, T’Challa, often faces grave danger, Ross frequently gets caught up in the peril.

Freeman is familiar with big film franchises (namely, The Hobbit) and has a number of notable credits to his name. He has starred in a range of popular films and series, from Love Actually to the British Office. Watching Freeman, as Dr. John Watson, deal with the eccentric Sherlock Holmes is always entertaining, so we look forward to seeing him play Ross, where he’ll have the chance to interact with even more uniquely talented characters, both in Civil War and hopefully beyond.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6.

Logo for WWE Backlash France.

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
