Channing Tatum to produce ‘the greatest ’80s Romanian cop show’

Channing Tatum has had a very interesting career, starring in everything from Magic Mike to Step Up to Foxcatcher. Nothing, however, can match his latest project in terms of sheer randomness.

As you may have heard, the actor now heads a production outfit called Free Association, and according to Entertainment Weekly, the company is throwing its weight behind Romanian buddy cop comedy Iron Fisting.

The show’s wonderfully weird premise is as follows: Two mismatched cops try to defend their communist homeland from the evils of capitalism and the West. The idea was inspired by Miami Vice, but as far as we can tell, it sounds more like Starsky and Hutch for the Eastern Bloc.

The series will be shot in faux-’80s Romanian style — complete with bad dubbing into English — and it has already debuted its first poster, which you can check out below.

From the color scheme, to the Romanian writing, to the faces of the protagonists, this image is just all kinds of awesome. We doubt if anyone will argue that this is, in fact, “the greatest ‘80s Romanian cop show” because, well, how many contenders are there in that category?

No word yet on who will star in this series, who will broadcast it, when it will be released, or pretty much anything other than what we’ve just told you, but color us intrigued.

While we’re a tad disappointed that Tatum won’t be in front of the camera for the show — this could be a really fun project. Scribes Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka, who collaborated on Animal Practice, are in charge of scripting the comedy, with Saturday Night Live alum Rhys Thomas set to direct.

Logo for WWE Backlash France.

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
