PDFs remain one of those unavoidable parts of working life. Reports, research papers, presentations, proposals, financial documents and client material still tend to arrive as PDFs, and the real problem is rarely opening or reading them. It is dealing with everything that comes after: finding the useful information in a lengthy document, understanding it quickly and eventually turning it into something presentable.

Adobe Acrobat is addressing both sides of that process with its latest update, introducing Stylize and Generate Report. The features are designed for people who spend a lot of time working with documents but do not necessarily want to spend equally long making those documents easier to understand or better looking. The good news for anyone looking to try them is that Adobe is offering free, unlimited access to these capabilities, so you can explore what they can do without immediately adding another subscription to your list.

Turn lengthy PDFs into something easier to work with

Generate Report is particularly useful for anyone who regularly receives information-heavy documents. The problem with reports and research material is not always a lack of information. It is knowing what deserves attention and getting to the points that actually matter without spending hours working through the document. A report can contain everything a professional needs, but time spent reading it does not necessarily mean the important insights have been understood.

Acrobat can turn that information into more visual and interactive formats, giving the material a different way to communicate what matters. Interactive reports can make a large amount of information easier to navigate, while podcasts offer a more convenient way to get through the contents of a document when sitting down and reading every page is not practical.

It also fits into the way many of us already consume information. A podcast can make sense when you are trying to get through background material while travelling or between meetings, while a visual report can be more useful when you need to quickly understand the relationship between different pieces of information. The original PDF remains important, but you are no longer restricted to experiencing its contents in exactly the format in which it arrived.

Acrobat’s AI Assistant can also be used to work with and refine documents, making the software more useful when the job involves more than simply reading a PDF. It can help refine the material being prepared, whether that means working through information in a document or getting content into better shape for its intended audience. For professionals who regularly research a subject, prepare reports or work with documents received from clients and colleagues, having these tools within the same application can cut down on some of the back-and-forth that normally comes with the process.

Make the document presentable without becoming a designer

There is another familiar problem at the end of the process. You have the information, you have worked out what needs to be communicated, and now the document needs to look good enough to send to a client, colleague or senior executive.

Stylize is aimed at this stage. The feature can help turn plain document content into a more polished presentation, without requiring the user to have a background in design. For someone who knows what they want to say but does not want to spend an afternoon adjusting layouts, formatting and presentation, this is a considerably more practical use of AI than simply generating text for the sake of it.

The benefit is particularly apparent in everyday business documents. A report assembled quickly for a meeting, notes that need to be shared with a wider team, or research that needs to be presented in a more accessible form can all require a certain amount of visual refinement. Having Acrobat handle some of that work means the focus can remain on the information itself.

A report may have all the right information and still need a final round of formatting before it is ready to be shared with a client, colleague or senior executive. Stylize is designed for this part of the process. It can take plain document content and give it a more polished presentation, without requiring the user to have a background in design.

For people who work with reports, proposals, meeting notes or research documents, this can save the time usually spent adjusting layouts and formatting. The content remains the focus, while Acrobat takes care of some of the work involved in presenting it in a more polished form. It is a practical application of AI because it addresses a routine part of document preparation rather than simply adding another way to generate text.

One Acrobat workflow from start to finish

The two features cover different parts of the same workflow. Generate Report helps when the challenge is making sense of a lot of information, while Stylize helps when that information needs to be turned into something ready to share. This means less need to move between different tools for reading, organising and presenting information contained in PDFs.

For the September 9 launch, Adobe is offering free, unlimited access to the new Acrobat capabilities, making it easier to try the features with the kind of documents that already form part of the daily workflow. Generate Report can turn information-heavy PDFs into interactive reports and podcasts, while Stylize can give finished documents a more polished presentation. The new features go live on September 9. Head to Adobe Acrobat to try them out and see what they can do with the PDFs already in the workflow. Do that with Acrobat.

Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new slate of devices late in October, and this event will focus on Macs, it seems. “The product launch is scheduled on or around Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The end-of-month announcements will also include versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac with M6 chips,” says the report.
