AI has come for the psychics’ jobs and they are not happy about it

Human psychics are advertising AI-free readings, while one startup wants them to train their own digital replacements

AI psychic readings are available around the clock, and human practitioners are having to explain why customers should still pay to speak with them.

The Guardian found psychics responding with AI-free promises and arguments that chatbots lack the human connection central to their work.

How are human psychics fighting back

Psychic and coach Lauryn Kellett was addressing that competition in April 2025. She urged spiritual business owners to emphasize qualities she believes AI can’t replicate, including intuition and personal connection.

Psychic Vision makes its position clear across its website and app listing. It rejects AI-generated readings and promises customers a live person. Google Play shows more than 100,000 downloads.

A human reader doesn’t establish whether anyone can predict the future. Customers can still expect the person they’re paying to do the reading, especially when software can produce something that sounds personal.

Why are some readers using AI anyway

A study presented at CHI 2026 interviewed 12 tarot practitioners who already used AI for personal readings. Some wanted reassurance about their interpretations. Others asked for perspectives that might challenge their assumptions.

Participants described hostility toward AI within tarot communities and worried that relying on it could weaken intuitive skills. Some moderators rejected recruitment requests specifically because the study involved AI.

One participant treated chatbot hallucinations as potentially meaningful randomness, like a card falling from a deck. A familiar software flaw became another clue to interpret. These interviews cover a small group of existing AI users, so they can’t represent the whole profession.

Who gets paid when the psychic sleeps

MysticTwin is recruiting psychics to train AI doubles that could serve clients while they’re offline. Its website says the company would take 50% of chat revenue and promises customers would know they’re speaking with AI. Even the spirit world needs passive income.

The service is still advertising a planned launch. Before paying for a reading, check who’s actually delivering it. Picking a human psychic’s profile may eventually mean choosing which chatbot they’ve trained.

Apple issues a grim warning as memory costs soar. It seems pricey iPhones and Macs are here to stay
Apple’s memory bill is climbing, and your receipt may follow.
MacBook Pro PROLED XDR laptop

Whether it’s iPhones, iPads, or MacBooks, Apple has already slapped revised price tags on a long list of products. Since these products already cost hundreds of dollars more than they did (especially MacBooks and the Mac mini, which use highly capable M-series chips), I was quietly hoping this was it.

However, during its recent earnings call, Apple ended that hope. The company has warned that memory chip prices are climbing at an “unprecedented” pace, with CEO John Ternus telling investors that costs will be even higher in the December quarter (via The Guardian).

An AI pet portrait maker or workout app that looks harmless could be hiding nudifying tools. According to a Wired investigation, hundreds of apps on Google's Play Store and Apple's App Store were found disguising themselves as pet photo editor, language tutor, workout coaches and other mundane apps.

Under the right conditions, those ordinary-looking apps quietly switched over to a hidden interface that generated sexually abusive deepfakes. Researchers from AI Forensics uncovered the network, which includes 400+ connected apps and domains.
