If you’re using the Windows 10 Insider Preview, you can now download the Fresh Paint app, the digital drawing program that debuted with Windows 8. The app renders many of the same functionalities as it did in the previous operating system, according to Winbeta.org.

In Fresh Paint, you can import images from your device and make enhancements as you see fit. You’re also able to print your pictures in high definition, and the app itself has a highly intuitive user interface. You can use either your finger or a stylus to paint and to bring your designs to life.

Some other features that made it over to the Windows 10 Insider Preview edition include accelerated graphics rendering and enhanced pressure sensitivity. You can also draw using watercolor, oil, pencil or pastel mediums, and Fresh Paint comes with two free “coloring book” activity packs. You can find Fresh Paint in the Windows Store, and it’s completely free.

With the release of Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, digital artists showed their enthusiasm for Fresh Paint, according to CNET.com. The successor to Microsoft Paint came with a slew of new features designed to “inspire” users. A number of new drawing tools were introduced, in addition to the ability to add photos from the Internet via Bing.

In March, Microsoft updated its blog to shed light on its universal app platform for Windows 10, the latest operating system set to debut this summer. The goal of the universal app platform is to provide a seamless, familiar experience to users across all Windows devices. And it was additionally created with Web developers in mind.

“The new universal app platform completes our developer platform convergence by providing you with the ability to finally create one app that can run on mobile, desktop, console, holographic, and even IoT devices,” Kevin Gallo wrote on the Windows blog.

When it debuts, you’ll be able to download Windows 10 for free if you have a qualified new or existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1 device.

Three RTX 4080 cards sitting on a pink background.

If you're trying to build or upgrade a PC, now is the best time to buy many different components. Black Friday brings huge discounts on parts, making it the best time of the year to stretch your dollar the furthest. But this year, there's one important part you should wait on: a new Nvidia graphics card.

That's not because Nvidia's latest GPUs are bad -- they're some of the best graphics cards you can buy -- but because we're likely on the brink of a major refresh to Nvidia's current lineup of GPUs, and the deals we're seeing now will probably become the norm in just a few months.
A Super refresh incoming?

This simple keyboard shortcut could save you when installing Windows 11
The Command Prompt on screen during Windows 11 installation.

I install Windows 11 a lot. Be it for a clean slate on a PC that's acting up or a brand new PC, anyone who tinkers with computers will find themselves interacting with the Windows installer quite a bit. And it's far from perfect.

Over the past year, it's gotten worse, too. This is because Windows 11 now requires you to connect to the internet before proceeding with installation. If you don't have a connection (or another issues occurs, as I'll get to in a moment), you're out of luck. You're stuck. Thankfully, there's a Windows 11 shortcut that can crack open the installer and give you a lot more power: Shift + F10.

This Noctua-themed gaming PC is a bespoke beauty — and you can buy it
Maingrear Noctua air-cooled PC.

Most gaming PCs have a certain kind of aesthetic that often screams "gamer." RGB lights and strangely shaped chassis can stand out like a sore thumb if they don't match the aesthetic of your space. But if you're big on the design side of things and still want a powerful PC, Maingear has just launched two new prebuilt desktop lines that might suit you. Dubbed North and Noctua North, they both come equipped with some of the best graphics cards and processors.

The PCs are part of the new Maingear Drops program, which are limited-edition PC releases that the company says will evolve over time. Maingear split these two releases into a "Series" tier and a "Limited Edition" tier, and the difference is that Series products span several different models with varying specs, while the Limited Edition is a single preconfigured rig.
