HP Refreshes Pavilion, Presario Desktops

Hewlett-Packard has introduced a flurry of new models in its budget-minded Pavilion and Compaq-branded Presario lines. The new models are designed to appeal to home users, small business users, and students looking for budget-friendly yet powerful systems – or even a media center – perhaps as a way to step up to Windows Vista. The new systems sport increased RAM and hard drive capacities and are available now through HP’s shopping Web site, and customers can create customer configurations at selected retail stores using in-store kiosks. However, given the sheer number of systems HP offers, users essentially have to know what model numbers they want: these systems don’t (currently) appear in HP’s brand and category-based product listings, although most can be looked up directly.
