New AMD Zen 3 CPUs may challenge Intel while we await Zen 4

Not too long ago, we reported that the launch of AMD Zen 4 processors may be imminent, but a new rumor -- coming from the same source -- shows that there may be some uncertainty as to the release date.

AMD seems eager to strengthen its Zen 3 lineup before it moves on to Zen 4. Another leaker suggests that the company may be readying several new current-gen processors, including the Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600, and Ryzen 5 5500.

Where does it end? Cheap Intel Pentium overclocked to 5.8GHz

We've recently seen a few Intel Alder Lake processors being overclocked against all odds, and now the trend continues with yet another impressive feat.

This time, the $64 Intel Pentium Gold G7400T was overclocked to hit a clock speed of 5.8GHz. For context, the high-end Intel Core i9-12900K has a max turbo frequency of 5.2GHz -- so the ultra-budget Intel Pentium Gold is certainly hitting heights no one could have foreseen.

4K Blu-ray discs no longer work with Intel Alder Lake chips

Following Intel’s decision to remove software guard extension (SGX) compatibility for 12th-gen Alder Lake processors, the company’s latest chips will no longer be capable of playing 4K Blu-ray discs.

As spotted by Bleeping Computer, Intel’s updated data sheets now show SGX as a deprecated technology. Consequently, those buying or building a PC with the latest Intel CPUs will not be able to play Blu-ray movies in 4K resolution on their systems.
