Live Mesh Expands To Three More Countries

CNET reports that Microsoft has expanded its open invitation to join its Live Mesh service to people in Ireland, India and Canada, joining those in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand who already have access to Live Mesh without an invitation.
However, there’s still a cap of the numbers allowed from India, Canada and Ireland.

So what does Live Mesh do? At the moment it stands as a way to synchronize data among a number of computers, but the eventual aim is to move desktop apps to cloud computing and vice versa, as well as synchronizing among multiple devices.

So far, though, Macs would appear to be off the list. But on several occasions a tantalizing link has appeared on the site for an early version of a Mac client, although this has always been promptly removed by Microsoft.

It’s expected that Microsoft will broaden its Live Mesh testing and add new features before its holds the Professional Developers Conference in October.

Windows 11 could get a serious performance boost, but there’s a catch

Who wouldn't want their Windows PC to run faster without spending money on new hardware? Well, Microsoft appears to be working on something that could improve performance and efficiency on future PCs. However, before you get too excited, there's an important catch.

Windows Insider Xeno recently spotted a new setting, Advanced Performance Extensions (APX), in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 29695. Microsoft is currently testing the feature in its experimental development channel, and it could eventually help compatible processors handle demanding tasks more efficiently. The setting lets Windows take advantage of Intel's APX technology, but it requires a system restart after you enable it. While that might sound like another ordinary Windows toggle, what happens behind the scenes is much more interesting.
