Here’s the only Nintendo Switch deal you need to see for Cyber Monday

This story is part of Digital Trends' Cyber Monday coverage 2024

Cyber Monday deals are coming to an end, but there are still a ton of great gaming deals. Video game consoles are among the most popular products during Cyber Monday, but Nintendo tends to avoid discounting the Switch hybrid gaming console during the shopping holiday, and deals that are offered do not provide massive savings when compared to its original retail price.

While the Nintendo Switch has been out for nearly three years, there are not a ton of bundles or special promotions available, either. But there is one Nintendo Switch deal worth considering if you are interested in picking up this eighth-generation gaming system. For $300, you can pick up a Nintendo Switch with neon red and neon blue Joy-Cons and a 128GB SD Cardat Target.

With this Nintendo Switch deal, you receive not only the gaming system itself but also a free SD card to store your future Nintendo Switch library. Yes, the storage card itself is relatively cheap to acquire. However, when you take into account that Nintendo has a history of being stingy with deals during the holidays, this $300 Switch bundle is still a good deal. Ultimately, you are saving $20, which can be used toward a new game for your new console.

While the Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular gaming systems right now, the console’s internal storage is minimal, so having to purchase a third-party external microSD card is crucial if you intend to store a lot of games on the system. The Nintendo Switch unit that is purchasable in this deal is the newer model of this hybrid console. It allows users to play games in handheld mode longer, with the battery life lasting between 4.5 to 9 hours depending on the game you play, while the original Switch has a battery life lasting around 2.5 to 6 hours, depending on which games you play. Aside from the increase in battery life, both models of the Switch are the same; the longer battery life is perfect for gamers intending on playing their Switch in handheld mode more than in docked mode.

Don’t forget: Cyber Monday is the best time to buy a new SSD
The Samsung 980 Pro SSD being held in someone's hand.

There's one thing every PC can use more of: Storage. And this Cyber Monday, some of the best SSDs on the market on down to their lowest prices ever. Between games, apps, and the onslaught of images I download for articles, I fill up hard drives constantly, and I always wait for Cyber Monday to refill.

You don’t need to spend a fortune on a 43-inch 4K TV — here’s proof
hisense lg samsung 4k tv deals best buy dell summer sale 2020 h65 series

You actually don’t need to browse Prime Day deals to recognize that there’s an entire new world of 4K TVs out there. High-definition TVs that just years ago cost thousands are now more affordable than ever. Take Hisense, a fan favorite brand, and its 43-inch H6570G 4K TV. It’s currently $41 off, making it only $229, down from its original price of $270. That’s a fantastic deal, but you’d better act quick; supplies won’t last long.

The thing is, you don’t need a giant TV for the complete entertainment experience. More often than not, a sizeable 43-inch screen is actually a better size for living room areas and apartments than a giant 65- or 75-inch screen, which can be overbearing, take up too much room, and be impossible to fade into the background.

You may have access to hundreds of free games you’re not taking advantage of
Living room with Microsoft Xbox Series X (L) and Sony PlayStation 5 home video game consoles alongside a television and soundbar.

Ever since Nintendo was the first to breach the $80 threshold for games with Mario Kart World, the concerns over game prices have been top of mind across the industry. Between tariffs, inflation, cost of living, and what appears to be an inevitable recession right around the corner, I have already been preparing for how I can be a more discerning consumer of games.

There are tons of ways to be more thrifty with our favorite hobby. You can wait for sales, trade and borrow games, rely more on subscription services like PlayStation Plus and Game Pass, or just stick to the wealth of free-to-play games. But there's one resource I never see brought up that could give you access to a huge library of major titles for free: your local library.
