The latest campaign expansion to the Guild Wars game series, Guild Wars Nightfall, is available now via retailers in both North America and Europe. Guild Wars was created by ArenaNet and is published by NCsoft.
The new campaign expansion offers twnty new missions, hundreds of new skills and armor items, and two new profssions—but those aren’t the major features. Nightfall introduces customizable companions in the form of Heroes: Heroes travel and fight alongside players and use both weapons and skills of the player’s choosing; players can also save and exchange Hero builds, enabling nearly endless combinations for teams. Nightfall also rolls out new player-to-player Hero Battles.
As a campaign, Nightfall is set in the land of Elona, whose protectors the Sunspears are fighting against an evil ruler trying to summon her outcast god. Players can explore new terrain and cities, creep through ancient monuments, and ultimately determine Elona’s final fate.
“Guild Wars Nightfall is already being heralded as the best of the Guild Wars series by the record-breaking number of fans who participated in preview events,” says Robert Garriott, CEO, NCsoft North America. “Nightfall brings innovative new features to the game that revolutionized the online gaming genre and NCsoft is thrilled to launch this flagship game in time for the holidays.”
NIghtfall is available in Standard and Collector’s editions: the Collector’s edition cones with a behind-the-scenes DVD detailing the creation of Nightfall, a soundtrack CD, skill pins, an art book, a poster-sized map of Elona, and a character mini-standee.
Guild Wars Nightfall runs on Windows 98/2000/Me/XP and carries a suggested price in the U.S. of $49.99; the Collector’s Edition has a suggested price of $69.99.
