Logitech’s New Wireless Controllers

From the press release:

The Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PlayStation2 and the Logitech Cordless Attack Controller for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft both feature new low-power chipsets and an intelligent sleep mode — which will make changing batteries a rarity.

Logitech’s proprietary 2.4 GHz technology gives the controllers 30 feet of range without interference or lag, more than enough range to sit and play comfortably in almost any living room. No more untangling or tripping over cords — or relocating the couch so that a corded controller can reach it.

The new controllers’ cases are semi-translucent, making them visually appealing to gamers and offering a partial view of each controller’s embedded technology. At launch, the colors will complement their specific platforms: The Logitech Cordless Precision Controller is blue to match the colors of PlayStation 2; the Logitech Cordless Attack Controller for Xbox is green. The new controllers also feature Logitech’s critically acclaimed floating D-pad design, which makes Logitech’s D-pad more accurate and responsive than competitive controllers. Each includes Logitech’s durable, high-performance analog stick. The analog stick design has been machine-tested to perform at least one million circular revolutions, ensuring that it can handle the rigors of gaming over a long period of time.

For gamers who want to experience vibration feedback while they play, Logitech recommends its premium cordless controllers for consoles: the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation 2 and the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for Xbox.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for PlayStation 2 and the Logitech Cordless Attack Controller for Xbox will be available in the U.S. and in Europe beginning in late August. The Logitech Cordless Precision Controller carries a suggested retail price of $29.99 in the U.S.; the Logitech Cordless Attack Controller will retail for a suggested price of $39.99.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ blend of old and new is a recipe for success
Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows fighting an enemy. He's dressed in his samurai armor.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was officially revealed a couple of weeks ago in a beefy cinematic trailer showing off its dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. It's a big moment for fans of the series, as Shadows is finally the Feudal Japan Assassin's Creed game fans have been asking for since it was teased back in the very first entry in the franchise in 2007.

Does it live up to that long wait? Ahead of today's Ubisoft Forward stream, I saw an extended gameplay presentation for Assassin's Creed Shadows that gave me a much better sense of what to expect this fall. The team behind it is looking to blend newer series entries like Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins into the more traditional Assassin's Creed titles from over a decade ago. And that seems like it could be a winning formula.
Out of the shadows
During the presentation, I saw both of Shadows' playable characters in action -- and they're quite different from one another. Yasuke's Samurai stature and hulking physique command respect from villagers when he walks by. They bow to him, move out of his way, and clearly show signs of admiration. His combat skills also match this, giving him access to actions like a shoulder charge to break down doors or knock enemies off balance.
