PlayStation Plus subscribers, rejoice! It’s that time of the month again where Sony announces a list of free games, just for for you! The free games of August include: Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4), Limbo (PS4), Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (PS4, PS3, PS Vita), Castle Storm Complete Edition (PS3, PS Vita) and God of War: Ascension (PS3).

So if you’re sick of looking for Riddler trophies in Batman: Arkham Knight, you’ll be pleased to know that the new promotion begins on August 4.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is an action-adventure game that is the sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. This game takes place in the Temple of Osiris, which is deep in the deserts of Egypt. Help Lara fight her way across the sands and through ancient tombs, as she battles gods and monsters of myth and legend.

Limbo is the well-known artistic puzzle video game developed by Playdead. In Limbo, you’ll control a young boy who wakes up in the middle of a dark forest. You’re not sure of how you got there, or why you’re there in the first place. You will soon find out that it’s a pretty dangerous place, and realize you need to get out of there. While it only takes 5 to 6 hours to beat, you’ll definitely enjoy your time living on the edge of the danger zone.

Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones is a 2D puzzle game developed by CurveDigital. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the sequel to the Stealth Bastard Deluxe. In Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones, you’ll need to make your way through challenging puzzles while trying to take control of multiple clones.

If you can’t wait for the list of new games to arrive, be sure to check out last month’s promotion here.

PlayStation VR2 production reportedly paused by Sony

Sony is reportedly pausing production of the PlayStation VR2 headsets because it has a backlog of unsold headsets.

This report comes from Bloomberg, which claims that PSVR2 sales have slowed every quarter since its February 2023 release, causing stocks of the device to build up. It says Sony has produced 2 million headsets but reportedly hasn't sold through them yet. As a result, it's apparently pausing the production on new units until it works through some of that backlog, according to Bloomberg's anonymous sources.

Does PlayStation 5 have a web browser?
Playstation 5 with a controller.

Sony added a bunch of great functionality to PS5, but one thing that's missing is a web browser. Unlike its predecessor, PS4, there's not a standard web browser you can access from your home screen. That's a bit of a letdown, as it feels like a huge step back from what was available years ago.

Thankfully, all is not lost. With a little elbow grease and a lot of ingenuity, you can access a web browser on PS5. The process is quite convoluted, and it's not the most user-friendly browser, but it's possible to surf the web on your fancy new-gen console.

PlayStation acknowledges Jak and Daxter fans with March’s PS Plus game lineup
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier Key art

Sony today unveiled the March 2024 lineup of new games for the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra catalog. Jak and Daxter fans, whom PlayStation and Naughty Dog rarely acknowledge, got a win today as the PSP version of Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is getting rereleased for the first time via PlayStation Plus Premium on March 19.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier was released for PSP and PS2 in 2009 and is the closest thing we've ever gotten to a Jak 4. Although it's not as well-polished as Naughty Dog's trilogy, it's an important piece of Jak and Daxter history that wasn't easily playable outside of original hardware until this month. Hopefully, this sets the stage for PS Plus Premium rerelease of Daxter will eventually happen, although that isn't confirmed at this time.
