Peripheral and accessory maker Griffin Technology has introduced its Simplifi desktop accessory, which combines three of the most common add-ons folks add to their computers via peripheral devices: an iPod dock, a media card reader, and a USB hub. The Simplifi may not get rid of all your peripherals, but it can help reduce clutter and provide a single “point of entry” for many common connection needs.

The Simplifi features an iPod dock that supports both charging and syncing an iPod or iPhone. The unit also reads and writes Compact Flash, SD/SDHC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, and xD memory cards, and offers a two-port powered USB 2.0 hub for flash drives, hard drives, printers, scanners, cameras, and other peripherals. The unit runs off an included AC adapter, and connects to a host computer using a mini-USB cable.

The Simplifi is available now for $69.99.

HomeView's built-in camera might soon have a few more uses beyond FaceTime calls.
Apple HomeView feature

Apple’s recently unveiled HomeView smart display could also function as a home security camera, according to a new finding in its software. The feature was spotted by a Reddit user in the settings files of HomeView Software 27.2 (via TheVerge). Apple hasn’t officially announced anything about it yet, but the references suggest there are going to be a few more uses for the built-in camera.

Shopping for a new mattress sounds simple until you start looking. Memory foam or hybrid? Soft or firm? Cooling covers, pressure-relief zones, motion isolation, sleep tracking — suddenly, you're comparing features that barely existed the last time you bought a bed.
