DisneyMobile Adds Two Samsung Phones

DisneyMobile Adds Two Samsung Phones

The omnipresent media company Disney seems to have its fingers in everything: theme parks, merchandising, cable and broadcast television, movies—and lets not forget Apple’s Steve Jobs is now its single largest shareholder. Disney also operates its own mobile phone service, DisneyMobile as an MVNO on the Sprint network, and today the company announced it has added two new Samsung handsets to its phone lineup: the DM-S105 and DM-S110.

"We are proud to introduce this line of Samsung handsets to Disney Mobile subscribers," said Samsung senior VP Peter Skarzynski, in a release. "The DM-S105 and DM-S110 introduce a stylish design with optimal functionality that appeals to the entire family."

The DM-S105 and S110 are dual-band, tri-mode phones offering integrated VGA-resolution cameras, 160 by 128 pixel displays, Bluetooth wireless networking, SMS and MMS messaging, an integrated speakerphone, and a selection of personal organizer applications like a scheduler, note pad, alarm, and calculator. And—sure to appeal to the families who would consider Disney Mobile—both phones support Disney’s Family Center services, including Family Locator, Family Monitor, Family Alert, and Call Control, letting parents keep tabs on kids’ locations and activities, and control who they can call—and who can call them—on their phones.

We know: the features on these phones aren’t the stuff of cutting-edge mobile communications. But they’re reasonably functional for kids, who we know are just going to lose the phones anyway, or convert them to bits of useless junk in a freak boarding accident. ("It wasn’t my fault, Mom! Evan pushed me!"). Both phones are available now through Disney Mobile for $19.99 with a two-year service contract.
