The photo includes Fast and Furious originals Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as newer vets like Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Dwayne Johnson. Meanwhile, new female lead Charlize Theron is front and center, with fellow newcomers Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) and Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride) also pictured. Naturally, a car serves as a backdrop to the photo, but it is unclear what kind it is.
Diesel went with minimalism in his photo caption: He simply hashtagged it “F8.”
While the group looks like a happy one in the photo, we know that on screen, it will be a different story. Plot details are limited at this point, but it was previously revealed that Theron will be stirring up trouble alongside Hivju, her henchman. The Oscar winner has proven herself time and time again as a threatening and dangerous baddie, so we have high hopes for the latest major addition to the film franchise.
Fast 8 is being helmed by F. Gary Gray, who recently had a box office hit in Straight Outta Compton and directed the 2003 remake of The Italian Job. The latter starred Theron, often behind the wheel of a souped-up Mini Cooper. Neal Moritz of production company Original Film, Diesel, and Michael Fottrell produce, while screenwriter Chris Morgan doubles as an executive producer.
Fast 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
