The White House has finally announced a partial lineup for the commander in chief’s SXSW-themed festival — South By South Lawn — and it includes plenty of acts to be excited about. The mini-fest will take place Monday, October 3, and centers around music, film, and various interactive events.

Most of the speakers, films, and performers center around issues that President Barack Obama holds dear, including climate change, sustainable farming, and technology. Notable events surrounding those issues include numerous panels with expert moderators, as well as the domestic premiere of the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced documentary Before The Flood, which will be screened after a live conversation between the actor and internationally acclaimed climate scientist Dr. Katharine Hayhoe.

In addition to DiCaprio, the actors and showrunners from popular Netflix series Stranger Things will also make appearances at the festival, where they will screen three student film selections created for the White House Student Film Festival.

On the music front, The Lumineers and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings have been announced as performers for the festival, with the White House saying that more performers will be added.

As far as cool tech, perhaps the most innovative interactive exhibit taking place at the fest will be Through the Ages: President Obama celebrates America’s National Parks. A virtual reality experience that takes users on a journey with the president through Yosemite National Park, it serves as a thoroughly modern celebration of the National Park Service’s centennial this year.

Though tickets to the festival were distributed via a lottery, those who wish to view the events live can do so in multiple places, including on the official White House website and Facebook page, as well as on the official SXSW homepage.

Those who wish to learn more about each individual event taking place at SXSL can take a peek at the festival’s website.

The Mandalorian and Grogu in a poster for the Disney+ series.

It's not hard to see why Lucasfilm gave the green light to the upcoming Mandalorian & Grogu movie. No new characters from the new Disney era are as widely beloved as they are. In a time when so many Star Wars films have been announced and subsequently abandoned, a movie based on The Mandalorian feels like a surefire hit.

And yet, everything else about this film remains a mystery. What's the story? When does it even take place? None of that is known. But I think we can agree that the following five things need to be addressed in the upcoming film.
1. The right epic feel and scope

Everything you need to know about Andor season 2
Cassian aims his gun in Andor.

Andor is arguably Lucasfilm's crowning achievement of the 21st century. While that may be up for debate, there's no denying the success of Andor season 1, culminating with universal acclaim from critics and eight Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. It's certainly the most mature Star Wars project to date.

Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the petty thief who will eventually become a key leader and spy for the Rebel Alliance. Andor is a prequel set five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the film where Luna first introduced audiences to Cassian. It's been a long time since Andor season 1 ended in November 2022. Slowly but surely, season 2 is on the way. Below is everything you need to know about Andor season 2.
Is there a release date for Andor season 2?
There is no release date for Andor season 2 yet. Andor season 2 was originally scheduled to be released in August 2024, two years after season 1 premiered. However, the series experienced several production delays while filming because of the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes. Therefore, Andor season 2 had to move its late summer 2024 release date.
