Released in September, the new PlayStation 4 console is smaller and lighter than the original PS4 console. It packs a few new features and some minor internal upgrades, but as we found in our review, it basically fortifies Sony’s iconic gaming platform.

The console retails for $299, but Dell Home currently offers the PlayStation 4 500GB Call of Duty: Black Ops III Limited Edition Gaming Console bundled with NBA 2K17 and a $75 Dell eGift card for $300. That beats all of Amazon’s current PS4 deals, which only include one game for free at the same $300 price. Moreover, you can use the Dell gift card to buy an extra controller or new game.

Aesthetically, the new PS4’s shape and sharp, slanted profile have been softened with rounded corners. The power and eject buttons are now much smaller and rest on  the “lip” of the console, in front of the disc drive. The original indicator light has been replaced by a small series of dots on the console’s power button, which let you know when the console is powered on.

The Dual Shock 4 controller has also received a few minor tweaks. Its touchpad is now translucent, which allows a bar of light to shine through. The back panel, analog sticks, and direction pad buttons are now gray, rather than black.

The designs upgrades are subtle, but combined they strip the original PS4 console’s “business” feel and make the new console feel more like a machine that’s meant for play.

The PS4’s biggest upgrade, however, is to its Wi-Fi radio. The Slim now supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which should lead to faster download speeds and more stability when playing online. On the downside, the PS4’s optical port has been removed, but that shouldn’t affect many players.

The new PS4 is compatible with the same great library of games as the original model. But keep in mind that Sony will release a more powerful PS4 Pro in November, which will cost $100 more. This console will pack a stronger graphics card and 4K output, but unless you own a 4K-capable HDTV or plan on upgrading to one soon, you may not have a reason to wait for the new console.

Dell Home’s current bundle is as good as PS4 deals come these days.

I just played Ghost of Tsushima on a phone. I never thought I’d see this day and I’m not regretting this misadventure
Running Ghost of Tsushima on the Red Magic 11S Pro almost feels wrong
Red Magic 11S Pro running Ghost of Tsushima

I have tested plenty of gaming phones, but nothing quite prepared me for watching Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut boot up on the Red Magic 11S Pro. This was not cloud gaming or something like Remote Play from a PlayStation sitting somewhere else in the house. I used GameHub, linked it with Steam, and after some trial and error, had the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima running on a phone--and it was far more playable than I expected.

And yes, it looked as ridiculous as it sounds. Seeing Jin Sakai on a phone screen with a GameHub overlay, virtual shoulder buttons, and a live FPS counter sitting on top made the whole setup seem a lot more viable.

Forget console wars. Steam Machine may help kill lazy PC gaming ports
Valve’s expensive mini PC could become PC gaming’s new baseline
Steam Machine with Steam Controller

Valve’s Steam Machine has become easy to dunk on. The price starts well above current consoles, and the hardware sits somewhere between entry-level and mid-range gaming PCs rather than a monster rig. Early reviews have also talked about how demanding games need upscaling, trimmed settings, and realistic expectations.

With the ongoing memory crisis, it sounds like a rough time to bring a PC to the couch. Though the Steam Machine doesn't need to beat high-end gaming PCs or the big consoles. Its purpose was different from the start. And what really makes it better is how it could shift the PC gaming segment entirely.

GTA 6 may not get the real physical release fans were hoping for
The game may come in a case, but not on a disc
GTA 6 cover art

Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders recently went live, but the excitement came with one frustrating catch. The so-called physical edition of the game will not include a disc. Instead, buyers will get a box with cover art and a download code inside.

That decision immediately caused backlash online, especially among collectors who still care about owning games on disc. For a while, there was some hope that this would only be temporary. Reports suggested that Rockstar could release a proper disc version of GTA 6 in December 2026, giving physical media fans something to wait for.
