Amazon makes its Fire tablets more affordable with discounts of up to $50 off

Choosing the right tablet can be challenging, especially with the myriad of brands and specs to consider. If you’ve got the money and want the very best tablet, you don’t need to look further than Apple’s lineup of iPads. If you want something incredibly cheap and are not after the bells and whistles, Amazon’s Fire tablets are a great pick.

As far as affordable Android tablets go, Amazon’s Fire devices have been safe and solid bets for the past few years. They aren’t perfect, but for their price, they are hard to beat these days. Amazon is even offering discounts right now on its Fire HD 10, Fire HD 8, and Fire 7 tablets, bringing their prices further down. Jump on these tablet deals now and save as much as $50.

All-New Fire HD 10 – as low as $100

The ninth-generation Fire HD 10 is currently featured as the most budget-friendly option in our best Android tablets list. Amazon beefed it up and gave this latest model a new processor, a bigger battery, an improved front-facing camera, and a USB-C port. The giant retailer also claims that it’s four times more durable than the latest iPad Pro, all thanks to the polycarbonate material used for the back of the device.

This Amazon Fire tablet is no speed demon, but it does deliver adequate performance considering its price. It also packs dual-band Wi-Fi, which allows connection to both 2.5GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. This means more flexibility, more stability, faster speeds, and fewer interferences on network connectivity. A Full HD 1,920 x 1,200 display, Dolby Audio-supported speakers, and up to 12 hours of battery life also add up to ensure an enjoyable multimedia experience all-day long.

With Alexa built in, the all-new Fire HD 10 covers hands-free voice commands. As a non-traditional Android tablet, however, it doesn’t have support for Google Play Store so apps need to be downloaded directly from the Amazon App Store. And since it runs on Fire OS, all future software and security updates will be provided by Amazon.

Normally selling for the affordable price of $150, the 32GB variant of the Fire HD 10 is now even cheaper at $100. If you prefer more storage, the 64GB model is also discounted at $140.

If you prefer a smaller tablet, the Fire HD 8 is a nice pick. There’s nothing special about it, but at this price point, it’s hard to beat. Its size is easy to hold or carry around inside your bag, complete with a plastic body that is surprisingly durable. The screen display isn’t the sharpest there is, but it’s decent enough to watch movies and read on. Further enhancing the entertainment experience are Dolby Atmos-optimized stereo speakers that produce rich and loud sound on videos, TV shows, and music.

The Fire HD 8 is only powered by a Mediatek quad-core processor backed by 1.5GB of RAM, so you shouldn’t expect buttery smooth performance. Where it shines, however, is in battery life. Our review team put it to the test and concluded that it lasted for up to seven hours when streaming Netflix and Hulu continuously. Battery life extends further to 10 hours and even more when using it for non-demanding tasks like reading or web browsing.

A true Amazon device, this tablet covers support for A.I. Alexa. You can ask it questions about restaurants, movies, weather, and other stuff, and the Fire HD 8 will pull up results on the screen. You’ll also be able to control your entire smart home and perform many of the same tasks as the Echo smart speakers and displays. Folks who love the Amazon ecosystem will also love For You, a recommendation engine that puts games, apps, videos, and movies from the retailer’s massive library.

Don’t pass up the chance to score the Fire HD 8 for less. Both the 16GB and 32GB variants are discounted on Amazon at the moment.

All-New Fire 7 – as low as $35

The most affordable option in this roundup is the Fire 7. This model flaunts a perfectly portable size that’s comfortable to hold in one hand as well as a build quality that feels solid and is claimed to be two times more durable than the latest iPad Mini. Other exterior features include the 2-megapixel front and rear cameras, a mono speaker, a headphone jack, a Micro USB port, a Micro SD card slot, a power button, and volume controls.

This bestseller has been revamped with a faster 1.3GHz quad-core processor backed by 1GB of RAM. While it’s not meant to run heavy apps and graphically intensive games, this tablet lets you in on fluid performance when it comes to reading ebooks, playing casual games, and watching videos and movies. You’ll also be able to control it hands-free – open apps, send a message, or look up for information by just using your voice.

Similar to other Fire tablets. The Fire 7 runs a forked version of Android called Fire OS. This means you’re stuck with Amazon’s App Store and cannot find apps available in Google’s Play Store. Amazon makes up for this by providing access to various streaming services, audible titles, millions of songs, apps, and games instead.

The Fire 7 may have its share of weaknesses, but it’s still a solid tablet especially for casual usage. You can pick up this model for as low as $35 on Amazon.
