The big underwater secret in Fortnite’s current season finally revealed

Coral Castle, Fornite‘s equivalent to Atlantis, has been revealed as a new area in the game world, hidden under the deep waters that flooded the map at the beginning of the season and have slowly drained over time.

The new location resides on the map where a giant whirlpool once stood, any player that dared to go near it risked being flung into the air. Coral Castle is a sizable area, and also a little hard to get to if players don’t drop immediately into it, as it is surrounded by a tall wall of water.

Once that obstacle is overcome, the point of interest becomes littered with loot chests and conches that can be picked up and played a musical instrument. The centerpiece of the area is the castle itself, which provides players ample cover and places to defend from. That’s going to be necessary as new locations always end up being hotbeds of activity when they first launch.

Coral Castle isn’t the only new element to this Fortnite update. The Fortilla, a floating fort bridging several small islands, has returned, albeit rotated 90 degrees into a different orientation. The reduced water level also brought back the Slurpy Swamp, and players can find a spaceship at the Craggy Cliffs that includes its own multi-step challenge.

With this update, the water level has finally returned to normal. This sets the stage for the next season of the game, with the third season’s battle pass ending on August 26, which means that Fortnite Chapter 2 — Season 4 should begin at the end of the month.

Like with the game’s version of Atlantis, data miners also discovered that cars were going to be added, with a leaked challenge at the end of June confirming as much. Epic revealed that the vehicles were indeed coming to the battle royale, but was delayed by a few weeks.

New methods of transportation have been added to the game before, only to be patched or removed after the fact. It seems Epic wished to make sure that no such issues plagued cars from the get-go. Now that roadways are no longer flooded, the opportunity for driving is once again more freely available.

Acer’s 1,000Hz gaming monitor is real, expensive, and stuck waiting on a launch date
The Amazon listing confirms the $699.99 price, while the display remains temporarily out of stock.

Acer’s 1,000Hz gaming monitor has moved from announcement to Amazon listing. The XV273U F5 is priced at $699.99, giving competitive players a real number to weigh before one of the fastest displays headed to North America actually ships.

Availability is still the problem. Amazon lists the monitor as temporarily out of stock, and Acer has previously pointed to a Q4 North America launch window instead of a firm release date.

AI and vibe coding have unleashed a flood of new games, but not necessarily better ones
181,000 mobile games were launched in six months but big publishers still dominate.
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

If your app store feels packed with new games lately, AI is the reason behind it. Research company ATTN Economy found that 181,000 mobile games launched in the six months to May 2026, up 118% on iOS and 73% on Android compared to the same period last year.

Much of that surge comes down to vibe-coding, a growing trend where people with little to no programming knowledge can use AI tools to build and ship games without actually coding. The barrier to entry has never been lower, but the rewards are still going to the same people they always have.

The no-disc release for GTA 6 could be hiding a deeper problem and that makes me a bit anxious
GTA 6 may launch without a real disc because Rockstar could still be finishing the game
Grand Theft Auto VI GTA 6 Featured

As a gamer and a games collector, it is frustrating that GTA 6, arguably the most anticipated game of all time, is not getting a proper disc release at launch. The boxed copy will reportedly contain only a download code, which defeats much of the point of buying physical in the first place.

It also does not help that Rockstar has already annoyed some fans by locking certain in-game shops, vehicles, storage locations, and other bonuses behind the more expensive Ultimate Edition. For a game as massive as GTA 6, both decisions feel like the kind of moves players were hoping Rockstar would avoid.
