First look at Little Big Planet 2

If Sony has anything to say about it, this will be the year that the PS3 completes its fairly epic comeback and takes over the second place slot of total consoles sold from the Xbox 360. One of the first weapons Sony has at its disposal is the sequel to the surprise hit that won many game of the year awards, LittleBigPlanet 2.

If you missed the first, the idea is that you are a little guy named Sackboy and you progress through several platforming levels to beat the bad guys. There is more to the plot, but the heart of this game is not the story, but rather the tools that allow you to create your own levels and types of games.

If you want to turn Sackboy’s experience into a racing game, no problem. Interested in creating puzzles? Easy. The only limit is the developer’s imagination, and the original game redefined what online console level creating and sharing could be. Once you have created a level, you can upload it to others, or just download someone else’s design, which in theory means that the game could go on indefinitely and always be fresh and original.

Look for it on the PS3 this January 18, and for a closer look at the game, check out our interview below with Sony associate producer, Eric Fong.

AI has been making its way into video game development for a while now, but the recent developments have started raising some serious concerns. Popular games are being reverse-engineered with AI assistance, recreated for web browsers, and made playable on platforms they were never released for. Between all that, indie developers have started pulling down their demos over fears of getting copied. Anthropic has now stepped in with new restrictions for Claude Code.

The change was first spotted on X and subsequently confirmed by Anthropic's Addy Osmani. The new instructions prevent Claude from recreating specific existing games, even if they are renamed or presented as original projects. Users can still make original games, work on games within a genre, and use their own designs and assets.
