HTC Sensation 4G, a dual-core Android, hits T-Mobile June 15 for $199

htc-sensation-4g-t-mobileSometimes a headline says it all. We’ve been excited about the HTC Sensation 4G since the electronics maker unveiled it back in April, and today, we have a few new details about its impending release. T-Mobile has announced that the exclusive HTC Sensation 4G will be available on June 15. And if you’re near a Walmart, you can pick it up on June 12.

The new phone runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), complete with HTC’s newest version of Sense, which we were impressed with at CTIA back in March. The new UI makes it easier to customize the look of your phone and has a lot of nice visual flourishes that are absent from other Android implementations, including a 3D carousel view of the seven homescreens that lets you spin through them at a rapid clip.

Better than its OS are the stats behind it. With a 4.3-inch qHD screen (540×960 pixels), 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (the Atrix has only a 1GHz dual-core), and an 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording. The only disappointment is the 4GB of internal memory, of which only 1GB is usable according to CNET. To make up for it, an 8MB card is included, but this is still low when compared to the 16GB and 32GB offerings by Samsung and others.

Of course, the phone runs on T-Mobile’s “4G” network, and we put 4G in quotes because it uses HSPA+, which is really a beefed up 3G technology (learn more about 4G here). Don’t expect to attain the speeds of Verizon’s 4G LTE network on T-Mobile (or AT&T for that matter).

Finally, HTC has included its HTC Watch, which lets users rent or purchase movies/TV shows, and HTC Listen, which lets users access music via a subscription. We look forward to checking both services out. The HTC Sensation 4G will run you $199.99 with a two-year contract.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
