Animal Well will be part of the PS Plus Game Catalog from day one

Sony revealed the batch of video games that will come to PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra’s Game Catalog over the next month. The headliners are three new day-one additions to the service, including the already-confirmed Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Dave the Diver as well as Animal Well.

Animal Well launches on May 9 and has caught Digital Trends’ eye for being an eerie Metroidvania that won’t hold players’ hands as they explore. It is also the first game that will be published by Bigmode, a fledgling publisher founded by YouTuber Videogamedunkey. PS Plus Premium and Extra’s game catalog had historically been less focused on games coming to the service on day one than has Xbox Game Pass, but that’s finally starting to shift. While Tales of Kenzera: Zau comes out on April 23 and Animal Well will be released on May 9, Dave the Diver and the following PS1, PS4, and PS5 games will come to PS Plus’ Game Catalog on April 16:

All in all, this is shaping up to be a very good month for the PS Plus Game Catalog. Howeber, the following games will be leaving the service on April 15 ahead of this new group of titles:

The Game Awards 2023 came and went Thursday night, bringing a plethora of surprising and entertaining game trailers with it. I'm still thinking about many of these trailers, particularly the ones that revealed brand-new games. Whether it's because they made captivating narrative or music choices, incorporated their flashy gameplay in a creative way, or just were a ton of fun to watch over and over again, the following seven trailers stand out as the cream of the crop in a show that overwhelmed viewers with tons of announcements. Whether you couldn't watch the show live or only care about watching the best trailers from it, we recommend you watch the following seven videos, listed in order of their appearance during The Game Awards 2023.

If there were an award for the trippiest trailer of the night, it would've gone to Pony Island 2: Panda Circus. Daniel Mullins is known for mind-bending games like Inscryption and the original Pony Island, and this sequel to that 2016 indie classic looks like it will be his weirdest game yet. Pony Island 2: Panda Circus appears to blend first-person gameplay with that of retro point-and-click games. Still, something feels very off about the latter throughout the trailer, with visual glitches and interruptions of live-action footage or a character played by ProZD. We aren't quite sure how this all fits together just yet, but we're certainly intrigued.

I thought I had my fill of gaming subscription services. PlayStation Plus's price increase turned me off and the offerings of Xbox Game Pass never fit my fancy. While both of these have their positives, I've never been one to just drop so much money every month for a bunch of games I don't really care about. That was until I jumped into my yearly Christmas-time RPG mood and discovered the bounty of classics that's built up on PS Plus.

PS Plus is getting an underrated RPG cult classic this month

Sony revealed which games will come to its PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra Game Catalog this November. Outside of a day-one release hitting service today, the rest of these games will come ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday on November 21. Of the 14 games coming to the service, the highlight is Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, an underrated cult-classic RPG worth checking out before its impending sequel's release.

Dragon's Dogma was first released for PS3 and Xbox 350 in 2012, while the enhanced Dark Arisen edition of the game came to PS4 and Xbox One in 2017. In it, players control a powerful fantasy hero called the Arisen, who loses their heart in a fight with a dragon but goes on a quest to stop the dragon and quell the apocalypse it's heralding. Its interesting lore, entertaining combat, and unique Pawn companion system still leave a positive impression over a decade after its initial release and have set the stage for a sequel in development at Capcom.
