Geneva 2013: The new Wiesmann GT MF4-CS revels in classic racing elements without the extras

Wiesmann GT MF4-CS By today’s standards, the new Wiesmann GT MF4-Club Sport, or CS, unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show sticks out as a bit unusual in a field of angular supercars.

Like a lot of the vehicles on display this week in Geneva, the CS has a very exclusive production run.  Only 25 of the vehicles will be made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wiesmann.

But the true distinguishing element of the GT MF4-CS is that the engineers have forgone some of the typical new car amenities to provide owners with a more authentic performance experience behind the wheel.

The significantly slimmed-down interior of the two-seater does not come with a GPS system, air conditioning or a radio – quite the opposite of the standard Bluetooth and other tech available on a lot of new cars now.  Photos show the top of the center console is dominated by seven old-school analog gauges.

The rear-wheel-drive Wiesmann GT MF4-CS is powered by a front-mid engine V8 that kicks out 309 kw/420 hp and 400 nm /295 lb-ft of torque.  The car has a top speed of 293 kmh/182 mph and clocks a 0-62 mph time of about 4.4 seconds.

The body is made of a high-quality, glass fiber shell with a curb weight of a little under 1,350 kg (3,000 lbs.).  Other features include a green-tinted multi-layer glass front window and a carbon rear wing.

Pricing starts at 193,193.28 EUR or about $251,000 (basic net price including standard equipment).

Self-driving cars keep getting in the way of first responders, and Uncle Sam just ran out of patience
Robotaxis are supposed to make roads safer, but first responders say they're becoming a real problem.
Waymo Jaguar I-PACE sensors close up

Self-driving cars are supposed to make our roads safer, but it seems that they are  doing the opposite. NHTSA administrator Jonathan Morrison sent a letter to autonomous vehicle developers this week, and he didn't hold back. He called the pattern of driverless cars getting in the way of first responders "unacceptable," and said a car that can't safely handle an emergency scene is a danger to everyone around it.

What's actually going wrong?

Xiaomi built an SUV that doubles as a camping tent, and its range numbers are equally wild
A pop-up camping roof, 300 miles of electric range, and a gas extender for when the tent life takes you somewhere the grid hasn't reached yet.
Car, Transportation, Vehicle

Xiaomi went from selling smartphones to making profitable electric cars and turned profitable in just two years, a feat that took Tesla a decade.

Now, the automaker has unveiled a whole new EV sub-brand called Sky Nomad; it’s answer to the outdoor and family lifestyle market. What’s even more interesting is the lineup’s first vehicle could come with a built-in retractable roof that literally pops up into a camping tent.
