‘Arrested Development’ to return in May

Six years after Fox cancelled the show, Arrested Development is finally coming back to TV (and computers and smartphones and anything else that supports Netflix). The fourth season will debut on May 26 with 15 full episodes, each around 30 minutes, to be released at once.

It has been a big, big year for cancelled TV shows making a comeback. Recently, Veronica Mars announced that it had roundhouse kicked Kickstarter records in the face, and easily reached its target goal in order to bring the show back as a movie. As of this writing it has more than doubled its $2 million goal, and there are still 8 days to go. Its success has also also spurred talk of other shows following suit.

Shawn Ryan’s short lived detective series Terriers may soon head to Kickstarter, and Bryan Fuller’s Pushing Daisies may join it. Veronica Mars’ creator Rob Thomas has even claimed that Warner Bros., the company that owns the rights to Veronica Mars, is considering the Veronica Mars’ Kickstarter project as a guinea pig for other properties. If the movie it spawns is a success, Warner Bros. may consider this a legitimate new model to help finance struggling properties with a loyal fan base.

In the meantime though, Arrested Development will return with its original staff and crew, including series creator Mitch Hurwitz. Netflix is hoping this will be the first of many collaborations, although Hurwitz has claimed this will be the final season.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s Stranded mission had me hooked for hours, yet left me wanting more

I spent hours sneaking through North Korea, scavenging supplies, and clearing outposts, and I’d happily do it all again.

For years, Call of Duty’s campaign mode has used big, scripted set pieces to tell the overarching story amid all the adrenaline-pumping action. The 2023 Modern Warfare 3 tried to shake up the established formula by introducing a handful of short open combat missions, and I genuinely liked the idea, but the game's overall negative reception seeped into how those missions were received.

I feared the next iteration might abandon the idea because of the backlash, but I am glad it didn't. MW4’s “Stranded” mission uses the same approach, but instead of fragmenting it across the campaign, it puts it all in a single large-scale open-world mission.

Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 finally has a US release date and price, several months after the company first showed off the handheld in May. The highlight is the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip inside, which has been adopted by only a couple of other consoles besides the Atlas 8. This version will go on sale exclusively at Best Buy on November 1 for $1,299.99.

Acer originally said the Atlas 8 would arrive in North America in October, but left pricing open at the time. The launch came amid the ongoing DRAM crunch, which has made memory more expensive across the PC industry and complicated pricing for hardware makers.
