Lenovo Goes Wide with T60 Notebook

Computer maker Lenovo today announced an update to its popular T60 line of business notebook computers, adding new 15.4-inch screen sizes at WXGA resolution (1,366 by 768 pixels) or an eyeball-popping WSXGA+ resolution of 1,680 by 1,050 pixels.

“As the widescreen PC’s popularity spills over from the consumer market to business customers, the new ThinkPad T60 widescreen is giving users more choices,” said Sam Dusi, executive director for marketing, Lenovo Notebook Business Unit, in a statement. “The new notebook gives business users the functions they need, like multiple connectivity options and strong graphics capabilities in a thin and light widescreen form.”

The displays on the new widescreen T60’s aren’t as tall as previous T60 systems—which Lenovo would have business travelers believe makes them more sutable for use on planes—along with providing more pixels for spreadsheet columns, presentations, digital photo editing, and other common tasks.

The widescreen T60 weighs in at just 5.1 pounds, and offers optional wireless 3G wireless broadband connectivity via Cingular or Verizon Wireless, embedded pre-N high-speed Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth, and infrared. And, of course, the T60’s move data around with Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and are certified Windows Vista capable. The systems also offer shock resistant technology to protect against bumps and falls, a spill-resistant keyboard, an optional fingerprint reader, and other security tools.

Lenovo says the widescreen T60s are available today with prices starting at $1,399.

What will be worth the upgrade is taking the networking option from the Wi-Fi5 and Bluetooth 4.2 standard up to the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 standard for an extra $20, which will make sure your laptop has a strong connection for streaming or doing online meetings and will be future-proof for at least the next 5-6 years.
