Plantronics Orders Up AudioIQ Noise Tech

Plantronics Orders Up AudioIQ Noise Tech

Plantronics today at CES unveiled a new Bluetooth headset they say is a breakthrough in DSP (digital signal processing) sound technology . The  Discovery 665 will be available for $149.95 at major retailers in February 2007.

The Plantronics Discovery 665 uses a new DSP technology called AudioIQ to influence both sides of a wireless call. For incoming calls, AudioIQ reportedly automatically adapts to background noise levels and intelligently improves the receive quality, clarity and volume level. For outgoing calls, AudioIQ reduces background noise for listeners up to 7-8 decibels, or by approximately 50 percent. It also minimizes interference from artifacts such as speech distortions to maintain exceptionally clear voice intelligibility.

Other features of the Discovery 665 include a unique charging and storage system for automobiles that also includes a new visual indicator for incoming calls, QuickPair technology for simplifing the Bluetooth setup process for consumers by automatically initiating pairing mode (when powered) if no device history is present, an ultra-light design and customizable eartips.

"AudioIQ goes beyond making conversations sound great — it’s about making communications easier and more natural for people on both sides of a call," said Renee Niemi, general manager & vice president of Mobile & Entertainment for Plantronics. "By incorporating AudioIQ into Plantronics’ new Bluetooth headsets, we are delivering optimal communications capabilities alongside our incomparable style and comfort."

Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
