Back when the Nokia Lumia 1520 was known by its Bandit codename, a few images did the rounds of an accompanying device, often with the codename Guru attached to it. It was small and square, with more than a passing resemblance to the sixth-generation Apple iPod Nano. Could it be Nokia’s first music player, many wondered?

The device didn’t launch at Nokia’s September event for the Lumia 1320, 1520, and 2520, so was quickly forgotten. Today, Nokia has pushed it straight back into the spotlight, as the BH-121 has been made official. However, before you get too excited, it’s not an iPod-like music player. No, it’s a Bluetooth headset designed not for listening to calls, but for music instead.

One of the first things you notice about the BH-121 is its bright color scheme, as Nokia has tied the little device into its Lumia range, so you can select a model which best compliments your smartphone. The BH-121 itself may remind us of an iPod Nano, but it’s probably more likely Nokia is trying to emulate the look of the Windows Phone operating system’s famous icons. If you’re using it with a Windows Phone device, it even gets its own Live Tile, complete with all the connectivity controls you’ll need.

The Bluetooth stereo headset can be paired using NFC, where simply tapping the two devices together will get them working in unison, or with Bluetooth if you’d prefer. There’s a volume rocker, general playback controls, a micro USB port for charging, and an LED indicator to show you the battery status. Best of all, the BH-121 has a 3.5mm headphone port so you can use your own earbuds, or the set of Nokia WH-208 buds included.

Nokia will put the BH-121 on sale before the end of December, when it will cost a reasonable 40 euros, which is around $55. We’re still waiting to hear Nokia’s international release plans for the device.

Save $200 on this Android phone and get free Bose earbuds
Motorola Edge Plus (2023) lying on a bench.

For those who are looking to buy a new Android phone, you may want to go for this offer from Motorola -- the third-generation Motorola Edge Plus for only $600 following a $200 discount on its original price of $800, and it comes with the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, which are worth $299, for free. That's unbelievable value that will be tough to get from other phone deals, but you'll have to hurry with your purchase if you want to take advantage of this bargain because there's no telling when it ends.

Why you should buy the Motorola Edge Plus (2023)
We reviewed the third-generation Motorola Edge Plus, released just last year, as a worthy competitor to the Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23. The smartphone features a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, and it's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to prevent scratches from daily wear and tear. The Motorola Edge Plus is also pretty fast with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 8GB of RAM, and while it ships with Android 13, you can upgrade it to the latest Android 14 as soon as you unbox the device.

How one special feature changed my smartphone photos forever
A person holding the OnePlus 12.

I don’t usually mess around with Pro modes in smartphone camera apps much. I’m not a “pro,” so they rarely seem relevant, and the combination of an effective auto mode and a great editing platform usually means I end up with a photo I’m pleased with anyway.

But that all changed when I tried Master Mode on the OnePlus 12. Yes, it’s a Pro mode in disguise, but it has an unusual and quite specific feature set that has helped me create photos I love and furthered my own photographic style far more than most other phones I’ve used recently.
