Yes, Halo fans, you read correctly. You will be able to celebrate your unadulterated love of the series with little plastic figures. Microsoft and McFarlane Toys announced on Monday that they would be collaborating to produce a series of action figures based on Halo 3. Don’t worry, you can call them “collectable,” if you would like.

Master Chief, Brute Chieftan, Jackal Snifer, Cortana and a two-pack of Grunts will be among the figures you can snag at the local toy store. But if you’re going to play with these things in true Halo style, you’re going to need some vehicles – and McFarlane has you covered on those too. The Warthog, Chopper and Ghost will all be available in die-cast metal and plastic. They will come with 3.5-inch bases, but McFarlane calls them “playable toys” so presumably they will look just as good running down on cardboard ramp on your stairs as they do sitting in a showcase.

“Halo is one of the top video game franchises of all time,” said McFarlane Toys CEO Todd McFarlane, in a statement. “We get to put our company’s touch on a sci-fi epic that is visually and thematically stunning. Through its gameplay, Halo has been able to attract a very large and loyal audience, most of whom happen to be our customers as well, which makes this an excellent partnership.”

Although Halo 3 is slated for release on September 25, the action figures won’t be available until spring of 2008 here in North America.

For much of the past decade, Xbox had one big idea: be the Netflix of gaming. Under Phil Spencer, Microsoft invested tens of billions of dollars into Game Pass, bought some of the industry's biggest publishers, and pushed the idea that subscriptions, not consoles, would define gaming's future. According to a new report from Bloomberg, that vision is now being rethought.

Microsoft spent years positioning Xbox Game Pass as the future of gaming. But according to a new report from Bloomberg, the service has fallen well short of the ambitious goals Xbox originally set for it. The report claims Xbox executives targeted 77 million Game Pass subscribers by the end of fiscal 2026. Instead, the service reportedly sits at around 30 million subscribers today, which is less than half of what Microsoft had hoped to achieve.
