At a press event in New York City, Toshiba ramped up its Regza line of LCD televisions, adding 46-inch, 47-inch, and 52-inch models to the line, as well as announcing a 57-inch addition to its Cinema Series line of displays. Toshiba’s Regza LCD television offerings are split across four separate lines, the HL67 series, the LV67 LCDVD series, the HL167 series (offering 1080p resolution), and the LX177 Cinema series. The new flat screens fall into the latter two lines, pushing the breadth of Toshiba’s LCD offerings from 26 inches all the way out to 57 inches.
“The feedback on our new Regza LCD line-up has been exceptional, and our market performance has been astounding,” said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba Vice President of Marketing, in a release. “We listened to the voice of our customers, made quality products that are market right, and virtually doubled our 32″ to 42″ LCD market share.”
The HL167 series LCDs offer Toshiba’s ColorBurst technology to reproduce more than 90 percent of the NTSC color gamut; the systems also feature CE-Link (HDMI CEC) so a TV remote can be used to control a source device (or a source remote can be used to control the TV) through the HDMI connection. At the top of the line, the Cinema Series LCDs offer Toshiba’s ClearFrame technology, which interpolates new frames to push the units’ frame rate up to 120 frames per second, reducing motion blur and flicker.
Each of the HL167 series sports full 1080p resolution, 3 HDMI inputs, two component inputs, one S+AV input, side AV inputs, and a 20 watt two-speaker audio system. The 46-, 47-, and 52-inch units are available now at prices ranging from $2,499.99 to $3,999.99; the 57-inch LX177 should be available in July, and Toshiba hasn’t announced suggested pricing, although something at or above $4,500 wouldn’t be out of the question.
