Hop on BitTorrent and you’ll find a plethora of content that includes books, music, games, software and more. Yet the popularity of such media pales in comparison to what people really want; movies. And lots of them!

According to Kickass.to, a top torrent search site, movies were by far the most popular search topic in 2013. Seven of the top ten searches tracked by the site were either movie titles or search terms used to find recently released movies. The remaining three sports were taken by cable TV shows Breaking Bad, A Game Of Thrones and Dexter.

The only search not related to some form of video, be it cinema or TV, was Windows 8 in 40th place. Absolutely no games or albums managed to hit the top-50 list. The term “oblivion” does appear, but undoubtedly refers to the 2013 movie rather than the 2006 game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The most desired movies on BitTorrent include World War Z, Iron Man 3, Man Of Steel, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Now You See Me. This list is unusual because it doesn’t bear much similarity to box office results for 2013, which places World War Z in 12th and Now You See Me in 23rd. Children’s movies, such as Monsters University and Despicable Me 2, were much less popular on BitTorrent than the box office figures might suggest. The key to keeping piracy at bay, it seems, is to make movies for people too young to use a PC.

These results should be taken with a pinch of salt, as Kickass.to is only one of many Torrent sites on the web. Still, this list suggests that while games, music and software are popular, most people still prefer to pass the time with by watching video.

Despite being among the best processors you can buy, some high-end Intel CPUs have faced a wave of instability over the past few months.
