What’s happened? An image has appeared online showing a phone in a trio of colors which could be dummy units of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with one of the shades looking suspiciously similar to Apple’s Cosmic Orange.

  • The image was originally shared on Reddit, and then posted on X by reliable leaker @UniverseIce.
  • It appears we’re looking at simple shells, not working phones, and their origin is unknown – so take what you see here with a pinch of salt.
  • The three colors in question seem to be silver, orange, and gold.
  • There are no logos or markings on the units, a sign these could be prototype dummies rather than production parts.

This is important because: Apple made a splash last month with the introduction of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which got people talking and helped push the handsets further into the limelight. If Samsung is trialing an orange finish, it could draw ire from some, who will point to it following in Apple’s footsteps rather than charting its own course.

  • As Android Authority points out, a number of commentors on the Reddit thread appear to be unhappy with this potential direction for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with some accusing Samsung of copying Apple.
  • Tech journo Max Jambor also chimed in, “Orange is the new Black. And will be in 2026 as well”, adding fuel to the orange colorway fire.

Why should I care? If the Ultra lineup gets brighter, buyers get real choice, not just titanium tones that blend together. Brighter finishes photograph well and stand out in videos, which matters when most shopping starts on a screen. But if the feedback on this leak are any indication of eventual consumer behavior, copycat accusations signal a growing disdain of products that are too similar.

  • Color can be the deciding factor when specs look similar across flagships, especially if certain colors are online exclusives.
  • Brand perception counts, and online sentiment can move early demand — or lack thereof.

Okay, so what’s next? Take this with a heavy grain of salt until harder evidence shows up. The telltale signs to watch are CAD leaks from case makers, regulatory filings that list official colors, and retailer materials that name finishes.

The iPhone 18 Pro could launch in these three colors, and black still isn’t one of them
Three colors, no black, and a Dark Cherry that's meant to do what Cosmic Orange did last year.

iPhone Pro fans who were hoping Apple would bring back a dark color option this year might not be happy after reading this.

According to a new leak from Weibo tipster Instant Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro could launch in just three colors: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, and Silver-Gray. You see? Black or dark gray is not on the list.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX could be making an AI device that’s slimmer than the iPhone
A slim SpaceX AI device prototype has likely been shown to some investors
Elon Musk talks to the press as he arrives to to have a look at the construction site of the new Tesla Gigafactory near Berlin.

SpaceX has reportedly shown investors a prototype of a handset-like AI device that is slimmer than an iPhone. According to The Wall Street Journal, the device is said to run on a proprietary operating system, use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, and integrate AI technology from xAI.

The project is still at an early stage, and there is no guarantee that SpaceX will turn it into a real product. The report also does not describe it as a traditional smartphone, which is important. It could be a phone, something closer to a dedicated AI device, or a product that never makes it past the prototype stage.

Google is planning on making Android 17 even more secure. The company had previously confirmed that Android 17 will now reduce the number of times someone can guess your PIN or password and add longer wait times between failed attempts.

Now, thanks to a deeper breakdown from Mishaal Rahman, we have a better idea of how aggressive that change really is.
