M-Audio Releases Studiophile Q40 Headphones

M-Audio Releases Studiophile Q40 Headphones

Earbuds may be all the rage for subway commutes and waiting rooms, but audio purists know there’s still something to be said for a clunky pair of cans when it comes to sound quality. M-Audio gave a nod to this concept on Thursday with the release of its Studiophile Q40 closed-back dynamic headphones, which supposedly get some sonic benefit from their size.

M-Audio claims the Q40’s extra-large 40mm driver delivers better low-frequency response than smaller units, and makes use of efficient components. The headphones also have fully sealed backings and isolating surrounds to block out environmental noise. For taking them on the go, they collapse flat to easily pack into luggage, and also come with an storage bag.

Studiophile Q40 headphones sell for $179.95 through M-Audio’s online store and at retailers.
