European GPS label Navman expanded its line of fashion-savvy satellite navigation devices on Friday with the release of the new S100. It’s one of the few GPS devices on the market to brag of its slim dimensions (just 13.5mm thick) but doesn’t cut features short to make room, with text-to-speech, an MP3 player, 3D landmarks and other perks on board.

Among the S100’s most unique features: a capture button for taking coordinate snapshots of memory-worthy locations, so they can be returned to later. Find a killer viewpoint on a mountain road or a tiny farm market out in the sticks? Mark it for later and you can always come back. The unit also comes with NavPix, which lets you download photographic points of interest from Navman’s library and view them as you go.

Other specs include a 4.3-inch display, 3D Junction views that illustrate complicated intersections and real sign data, and a SiRFInstantFixII GPS unit for quick signal acquisition.

True to its Euro roots, the S100 will debut in the U.K. (with maps to match) in November, priced at £200 ($340 USD).

There's no shortage of messaging apps out there. The past decade has given us more options than we know what to do with, largely because smartphones demanded something better than plain old SMS.

Both the App Store and the Play Store are packed with apps that promise to revolutionize the way we communicate. Most of them didn't make it. The truth is, a messaging app is only as good as the number of people using it, and most apps never cross that threshold.
