LG Slips Details on New Flagship Phone

A week before the landslide of new phones to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG has jumped the gun by slipping details on its own upcoming flagship handset a bit early. The LG-KM900 Arena will use a totally revamped 3D user interface of LG’s own design, called S-Class.

According to LG, the S-Class UI will be based around a cube, offering different home screens tailored to different features, and easy access to media files like music, movies and pictures.

“The direct, intuitive and dynamic S-Class UI will be unlike anything that has appeared on a mobile phone before. With rich 3D graphics, touch sensitivity and exciting multimedia capabilities, it will truly make Arena a fully loaded multimedia phone,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG’s mobile arm, in a statement.

LG hasn’t offered many other details about the phone’s hardware capabilities, besides a short list of fairly standard features, including HSDPA 7.2 connectivity, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS. LG also promises “audio and video technologies never before seen on a mobile phone,” likely referring to built-in technology from Dolby and DivX.

More details will be revealed at a press conference on Feb. 16 at MWC.
