Sanyo North America has announced that it is now shipping its 2009 Dual Camera Xacti camcorder lineup in the United States and Mexico. The four camera models all offer some form of HD video and still image capture—hence the “Dual Camera” monicker—and Sanyo is pitching these units particularly at folks looking to create their own Internet videos—including an ad campaign that will feature videos created by hot viral video makers using the Sanyo hear.

“The number of people that regularly contribute personalized video and photo content to the Internet is climbing exponentially,” said Sanyo VP of marketing and product planning Tom Van Voy, in a statement. “This online promotion is a great way to demonstrate some of the incredible features of Sanyo’s Dual Cameras by putting them in the hands of the people who create much of the web’s most watched content.”

Sanyo’s 2009 Dual Camera lineup consists of four models: the VPC-FH1, VPC-WH1, VPC-TH1, and VPC-CG10. The FH-11 offers 1080p, 60 frames per second video capture with 8 megapixel stills, while the TH1 offers 720p resolution with 2 megapixel still image capture and a 30× optical zoom. The WH1 also offers 720p video and 2 megapixel stills, but with the added capability that it can shoot for as long as an hour up to 10 feet underwater. Finally, the pistol-grip CG10 can handle 720 video and 10 megapixel stills—although it can shoot 2 megapixel stills at up to 7 frames per second.

The FH1 carries a suggested retail price of $499.99, while the TH1 is priced at $299.99. The waterproof WH1 has a suggested price of $399.99, while the CG10 will be offered for $199.99. All four models are available now at selected retailers. The WH1 is available in yellow and blue, while the CG10 is available in magenta and black: the rest of the lineup features tried-and-true camcorder case color schemes.
