If you ask us, it’s about time: LG has now introduced a series of flat, 4K UHD OLED televisions. Finally, the promise of an OLED TV’s inherently thin profile can be realized when mounted on the wall, allowing it to better pull off that “window” look.
The EF9500 series comprises two sizes, one 65-inch, and, a first for the industry, a 55-inch 4K version.
In addition to the pancake profile, the TVs feature a newly designed stand with an acrylic support piece that renders a sort of “floating” look. LG has also added an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare, and outfitted the new series with the the latest version of its smart TV software and user interface, WebOS 2.0.
Pricing and availability are expected to be announced later this year.
LG is also showing off an “Art Wall” OLED, which eliminates on-board speakers in favor of a sound bar which doubles as a table stand. This allows for a uniformly thin panel with no “bump” at the bottom to house speakers. It also results in a better sounding system overall. Be sure to get a good look at it in our video below.
